Imago Habitus and Differences from alike species
- Wingspan: 28-36 mm. [PC93].
- Самец: передние крылья светло-желтые, с двумя темными поперечными полосками. Самка: передние крылья красно-бурые, с двумя бледно-желтыми поперечными полосками. Задние крылья и у самцов, и у самок красновато-серо-бурые, с нечеткой перевязью, бахромка в пятнах. [85].

General info about Larva
- У гусениц молочайного шелкопряда белая срединная полоса на спине, две оранжево-желтые линии тоже на спине, а также тонкие желтые полоски по бокам тела. Бока сине-серые, а брюшко серое. Дыхальца черные. В молодости личинки Malacosoma castrensis живут группами в общем паутинном гнезде, позже — поодиночке. [85].
