All of the above are very banal views in Latvia. Tell me, why are you not interested in the Latvian Entomological Society? And you don't participate in our expeditions? It would be much easier and faster to find out!

My contact phone number is listed on my web page. If you are interested, please contact me.

You see, I'm only 13 years old, but since I was 5 years old, I've been interested in butterflies, then in caterpillars-and now I'm interested in the caterpillars of Nymphalids of Sailboats and Hawks-I like to collect caterpillars and bring them out at home, but I'm always unlucky weep.gif weep.gif weep.gifand I just wanted to find out where they can be found in Rigafrown.gif, but what about you what do you do on expeditions? smile.gif

27.07.2007 6:46, sealor

ALEXS, the fact is that almost all caterpillars are so masked that they are very difficult to notice. And especially such butterflies that have treelike caterpillars, it is necessary to climb trees, smile.gifyou can catch these butterflies and try to keep them at home so that they lay eggs, there are topics about this.

On our expeditions, we catch butterflies, beetles and other insects. Including those that you are interested in. In Riga, perelivnits and swallowtails can be caught 1) Spilves plavas (on the way to Bolderaja) 2) on the shores of Lake Kisezers (Mezaparks, Jaunciems, Trisciems). These are probably the closest points.

Do you have a net? What are you going to catch?

27.07.2007 12:57, АЛЕКСС

there is a net only I don't catch it-I'm looking for caterpillars, but my dreams don't come true-how many years have I been looking for caterpillars, and I can't find the caterpillars of the Perelivnitsa, Bandnik, Mourner and Swallowtailweep.gif, and where should I go at this age-I would really like to find these caterpillars or catch these butterflies that they would lay eggs at home but I've never seen them in large numbers - only singly weep.gif,I probably will never find them-I'm still too young to go on an expedition, and even in the places you listed, my mother won't let weep.gifme go alone, I'll do what with these butterflies later dnlayete?Do you find caterpillars there too?,do you know-in Latvia there is an Apollo, and such sailboats as Aleksanor and others?, because in my childhood I saw something like Aleksanor or Podaliriya, and once my mother almost caught an Apollo, but I'm not sure that such species are found in Latvia

Sealor-if I can do this, I've never seen such butterflies in greater numbers frown.gif

27.07.2007 13:03, Zhuk

13 years old early?! It's never too early! wink.gif
I know a kid from the entomological circle at Moscow State University. So he went on his first expedition when he was 7 years old. Now he is about 11 years old and he goes somewhere every summer.
So it's all up to you wink.gif.

Of course, you don't have to pay. Just need a net and a desire. And also-parental permission. Phone (mine): 26356968

It is better to solve all questions in person or by phone. There is a list of ALL the insect species in Latvia, but in Latin. We have Apollo, but it is very rare (the border of its range). Alexanor, of course not. They didn't apply. Swallowtail-yes, it is common. perelivnitsy-too, bandniks-too.

27.07.2007 15:08, АЛЕКСС

And this expedition to Latvia or Riga? well, what are you doing with these butterflies, are you looking for caterpillars there too? smile.gif

ALEXS, expeditions in Riga, Latvia, Indonesia, and South Africa. Please call us. Over the Internet-like a damaged phone. Sincerely, Dmitry

Damn, I also want to!!! eek.gif

to Anthicus: Do you have an institute that arranges such expeditions, and moreover for free? confused.gif We were less lucky in this PDA, I am now on a bi-fak in the third year, I have only been on one expedition all the time, although I have been working on insects since 2002. The expedition was for four days to the north of Moldavia. Caught Ropalocer.
to Alexs: In general, age is not important, the earlier you start, the more experience you will gain. You can try to go somewhere close to the country, for a day. I think that it will be possible to reach an agreement with my mother, especially since there is a mobile connection. All you need is a map of your area and routes to nearby localities, say with a forest or open area, in your case, if daytime butterflies, then edges and open areas, with as much vegetation and flowers as possible. cool.gif

27.07.2007 15:44, Anthicus

No, not everything is free, of course.
Age is really important. Sitting in the city is not much to catch. we need to leave. First - once, then-more often. You'll love it and go for it! Of course, first you need to work with your colleagues, not alone. They will help and show you places and share their experience, how and when and who is better to catch.

I myself have been fishing since I was 8 years old and have been keeping records since the same time (now, of course, everything is already entered into the computer, but once I wrote on pieces of paper). And my children (they are 5 and 8 years old) they've been catching it for a long time, too...

At first, I went hiking myself, not far from the city limits to parks. And not infrequently I go out of town myself.

YANDEX. MAIL ADDRESS:
practice shows that at first they don't let smile.gifanyone in, take friends, enthusiasts like you, etc. Vyezdaeyte slowly on and on - first for 1 day, then as it will be seen. The main thing is to wrap everything so beautifully that your parents will eat it and let you go. Gradually, by telling beautiful stories, as well as making sure from personal experience, you will be able to get rid of the ties that bind you to home. In general, friends with you and on the road - to plunder the entomofauna of Latvia wink.gif

I have already written about the points of interest of the species that are found in Riga (Spilvas plavas, Mezaparks, Jaunciems). In other parts of the city, these species can only be caught completely randomly.

My colleagues and I conferred. We can give (collectible specimens) of swallowtail, iridescent birds, and tropical butterflies, too, a little (for example, such as in the photo - Morpho achilles amazonicus). Young"fighters" -entomologists should be encouraged to further develop their interest!

And, of course, if my mother won't let me in, then I have to go with my mother! Entomology is a very serious business. I need to explain this to her. She'll understand, really.

Of course, a seventh-or eighth-grader says to his mother: Can I go to South Africa?
You can start making the road to bolshaya nauka from your own dacha or from short trips to the country. And parents will only be glad that the child is fond of butterflies, and does not wander in doorways and does not hang out for days and nights on the World Wide web (this, of course, does not apply to this forumsmile.gif)

There are no purely entomological ones in Riga, but there are some in Daugavpils. There are general health centers in Riga. And with young entomologists, our Entomol. the society works, but individually.

01.08.2007 11:56, Anthicus

Yeah, but ALEXS is missing. Only it was necessary to ask around and agree that they would give him a gift... I also caught a mourning bag for him at the weekend and put him to work. And why, the question is?

15.08.2007 16:09, Anthicus

All right, then. Your butterflies are waiting for you. How do I give them to you? Do you have a collection box? Here, I photographed the mourning girl for you and caught her too.
