Here is a retelling in Russian:
http://gazeta.ru/science/2008/11/18_a_2886978.shtml
Do not judge strictly, there is a problem. blots (for example, in the explanation of the term "cosmopolitan").
The original article can be read here:
http://biology.plosjournals.org/perlserv/?...al.pbio.0060285
I was interested to learn that " ...bees, wasps, ants and termites-together they make up 75% of the insect biomass on the planet."

Yeah, it's all muddy somehow... It was also interesting to learn that in ants, they say, working individuals do not differ physically, depending on their specialization. But what about the different-sized workers in the mass of species? And the same soldiers??? If someone can explain to me what the author wanted to say, I would be grateful. And what about the Smith ants? They didn't read smile.gifit . He wrote in relation to human society, and the laws we have with ants are a little different.

the newspaper article is generally a bit of a mess - in general, there is a well-known fact-and bees and ants change professions with age, and someone gets stuck at the stage of nesting workers longer, and someone less.
