I found a caterpillar in Moscow, can you tell me the optimal conditions for breeding a butterfly?.. And isn't it strange for Moscow in general ? I haven't seen a single one in 30 years

The jar is about 3 liters. A layer of loose earth on the bottom. Ivan tea leaves. Tighten the neck with gauze. With the beginning of winter cold weather, put it on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator. At the end of April, get a jar and put a few long twigs (no matter what). All.

The caterpillar turned into a chrysalis )) What should I do next ? where should I put it ? thank you in advance

PS: I've never seen a hawk moth or caterpillar in Moscow before, so does this mean that next year we can expect years of hawk moth ?

Plenty of them. Just kind of not massive of course, and secretive. And the butterfly flies at night. So you haven't seen them. Answer in the previous message.

This year, the M. O. was particularly "overwhelmed".

There are a lot of them in the Ministry of Defense every year.
If not the most popular, then one of them.

And why output it then? Add it to the collection.
This hawk moth came out in December, January and February (it can even hatch when it wants)"it looks like this. smile.gif

Yes, and I have a Kolchuginsky female came out.Although they promised a way out in the spring.Well, I checked the box-and it just came out and was straightening out.So I might lose a copy.I watched the rest of the pupae for a week, everything was quiet and they went to the refrigerator

Wine medium and bedstraw hawkmoth can generally be kept on the windowsill and they come out regularly (from my experience in the conditions of the Moscow region).

Yes, that's what I was waiting for him for. And now another pupa is on the way and the same fate awaits the butterfly! smile.gif
