I suggest that in this topic you post excerpts from works of art dedicated to arthropods. Perhaps someone will want to determine the species identity, so to speak, through the depths of centuries, well, or decades (for me personally, this is quite an interesting activity), or just show how the author describes this or that animal.

I want to ask experts to try to determine the type of beetles, probably barbels, briefly mentioned in K. G. Paustovsky (A Story about life: Distant years: What paradise looks like):

And here is another beautiful moment at Paustovsky-about water-meter beetles (A story about life: The Beginning of an unknown age: A zone of silence):

I saw reviews of the fantastic book "Cockroach" - http://clubs.ya.ru/4611686018427398026/replies.xml?item_no=1

I wondered if I should read it...

Annotation:

In one of the rooms of a cheap New York hotel, a red cockroach woke up from a dream and found that he had turned into a huge disgusting creature. He became a man! Now he will have to learn how to walk on two legs and talk. The cockroach mastered these skills brilliantly, but most importantly-it learned to think, thoughts made it a completely different being. He can survive in the most terrible, almost catastrophic conditions, has supernatural strength and power is not afraid of anything, because cockroaches do not know the feeling of fear... What is the fate of this strange creature, who knows no fear, but thinks boldly and clearly? Incredibly, he is able to control the fate of the world by himself.

Common flycatcher (Scutigera coleoptrata), presumably.
