not that it doesn't fit.I need more details.I didn't find anything on the Internet. (((

Right now, go outside and look under the streetlights...
If there are gas stations in your locality, keep an eye out for them...
And learn to catch "in the light" ... smile.gif

The beetle is not uncommon in your area either. If you are in a rural area, just turn on a regular light bulb in the yard at least 100 watts. and see for yourself.. At one time, I met him near the Grebenka station (by Russian standards, this is nearbysmile.gif).

ok I'll try!Thanks!

And in the Saratov region, the rhinoceros beetle is listed in the Red Book... miracles!??
We can export this type to the Saratov region in buckets...
I remember on the Shalkeev cordon that on the Belaya River (see the link to Igor Kryukov's story in the bikes), a forester kept 5 cows - well, he had a pile of manure in the spring that was level with the barn... once on June 28, 2001, we decided to catch insects there at night... My God, I thought the DRL lamp was 250 V. it will split from beetles falling on us from the sky (we ourselves hid under the porch canopy... the blows were worse than large hail)... my young and unintelligent companions decided once and for all to catch rhinoceros beetles for collections and exchange... as I did not shame them, they got wet in a three-liter jar... In the morning I went outside to wash my face... I come back and literally collapse with laughter... these boobies shared the catch... I thought I'd burst out laughing... It's a pity I didn't have a good photo then...

My God, what difficulties???We take a shovel to the rotted pile of manure or sawdust. And we get a bunch of rhinos or imagos or pupae or larvae depending on the time.
Remove the beetle from the larvae without any problems.

27.06.2012 14:57, KpaBa

I have a problem with the manure piles.I've looked through a lot of them, but none of them were there.Just the larvae of bronzes, of which I have a lot..

28.06.2012 10:54, Anser

Do you understand the difference between a dunghill and a rotten old pile?In the near Moscow region, almost every rotted pile has rhino beetle larvae...Swarms of worms for fishing always come across them.

Yesterday, 3 pieces arrived at the light-2 kr. females and 4 cm male, today I will hang the females in the cage for pheromone bait and simultaneously catch them into the light.Yesterday probably was the beginning of summer in the Kaluga region, because the first night is not colder13 p.

To my brother in the village flew 2 males separately, directly into the house through the window.
I was happy, I thought I would come and catch some big males.
My brother had previously rummaged through all the manure, there are larvae, no beetles.
We decided to catch the light at night, pulled out a sheet and a lamp.
First they stretched her out in the garage, then on a clothesline.
Not a single beetle arrived. all sorts of bears and camels, nothing else.
He also tried it later, but didn't catch anything.
Today they brought a female barely alive, all the legs except 1 back and 1 front were broken off at the knee.
I put it in a tray with earth.

They are probably already reaching you. In the middle zone later than mid-July did not meet. In the north of the range, they write that it is also found in August.

Brother 1.5 months ago dug up larvae, 8 pieces.
Put in a tray with a rotted substrate.
Well, in general, then I started digging, but there are no larvae, then I found 1 pupa and firebrands from small ones.
It turns out that 1 ate the others?

19.07.2012 20:28, Коллекционер

no, most likely the others died

In the Ryazan region, a couple of years ago, imago flew to me in September... Although, of course, the main season falls on the beginning and middle of summer.

A couple of weeks ago, the female oruktes moved away, I took a couple, and they were strewn with 40 square meters. Yesterday I found a dead male, at home there are 5-6 from that year, found a little later. When the small one was collecting larvae in a bucket of green manure and waiting for the imago to come out, they would hatch with white elytra, then let go.

Beetles should be sitting in the ground. When not in the ground, but still white-bad.
If it mates, it will lay eggs very quickly and die, and it can live for about a year or even a little longer without mating.

I want to add that the imagos that were still hatched in the spring are still alive, although I haven't seen anything they would eat, and lately every evening the female climbs out of the ground and cuts circles around the aquarium, how many imagos do they live?

02.12.2012 16:13, Hierophis

Interesting! In general, in theory, they should live for one season.

There are a lot of beetles on piles of rotted manure (best of all on horse manure), compost, caked leaves, near greenhouses. If you want to maintain it, then feed it with liquid food or tree sap.

In many of our beetles, adults hatch at the very end of summer-in autumn, but they do not tend to leave the pupal cradles and sit there until spring, and in spring and summer they are active, reproduce and die. But there are cases when there are violations of shelters in the fall in nature, beetles show limited activity.
That is, they live for less than a year.
