Good day to all!

And we have in the Urals (Kamensk-Uralsky) an invasion of beetles unknown to gardeners - just some kind of Egyptian execution. In all vegetable gardens and in the wild, plants are dotted with red beetles.

This is how it looks on a separate plant

And here's a closer look

The bastards eat most willingly all cruciferous plants-cultivated and wild.

Please tell me what kind of insect it is, just not in Latin please smile.gif

Serega1966
Duckies-bedbugs (family), such as the soldier bug. Or maybe a bedbug-corporal.

yes bedbugs, from the family of scabies, namely Eurydema ornata (Linnaeus, 1758)

and the fact that in the mass - a common thing, they are always in the mass

The most common cabbage bug and your cruciferous plants are too much for him. Apparently, there was just an outbreak of numbers this season, if you didn't notice them before smile.gif

Bedbugs are not a family, but a group.
The family is the redbugs to which the soldier bug belongs, as well as the shield beetles to which the given bug belongs

Thank you for your quick response!
If bedbugs - must stink specifically. I'll take a whiff tomorrow...

Never before has there been such a mass! Probably in the past years, these beetles came across, just do not pay attention to them when one or two.

Well, it's a species of Eurydema (Rubrodorsalium) ventralis Kolenati, 1846, but otherwise it's spelled correctly.

Unlike the green and brown ones, at least it doesn't stink...
Well, the cabbage harvest seems to have been covered with a copper basin. If they eat the Colorado potatoes, too....

Thank you to all who responded!

They won't eat potatoes, but they can eat turnips, rutabagas, and radishes.
