The Leningrad region is home to 12 species of hawk moth, excluding stray migrants. It's a long time to list them here. Where to catch it? Everywhere. Even in the city there are. Almost all of them can fly to the light of the DRV lamp, some of them feed at night over flowers (caprifol, petunias, tobacco, willow-tea). More often in the first half of summer, on a warm night before rain. Such nights are rare in LO, as are the hawkmoth themselves. And do you need to catch them? And for what purpose? Hawkmoth does not cause harm and is an ornament of nature. Can you handle a large, strong butterfly without ruining its wings? Maybe it's better to just observe in nature, if they get caught? Go to " Vkontakte "on the page" Club of hawkmeal lovers". There's a lot of interesting information out there.

Do you think I can't handle a butterfly?)
I need to recruit them to breed and monitor their behavior and life cycle.

And now they are flying, or is it unlikely that I will find them?

Now the "winter" moth brumata is finishing flying. A hawk moth in the pupal stage has long been in the ground under the foliage, waiting for summer.
