Hello everyone. specialists!
Caught under a willow tree caterpillar ocular hawk moth (Smerinthus ocellatus) most likely (?).
Tell me, pliz, how to bring her home to the butterfly?
A transparent cake box with leaves is suitable as a habitat?
From the leaves-willow, poplar-the main food of the plant, birch and so on?
How often do you need fresh leaves?
Water dripping to the bottom?
Keep it in the dark or can it be placed on the loggia?
Thank you.

This is a lime hawk moth. According to the conditions for breeding this particular type, I can't tell you, once I tried it, it didn't work out. The only suggestion is to replace the leaves with lime ones. But if the caterpillar is found on the ground, it is likely that it will not eat, but will bury itself in the substrate for pupation.

I also think that I went down for pupation, a bucket with a neutral substrate like coconut, 15-20 centimeters will be enough for throwing up. After pupation, hang a piece of gauze or mosquito net on the wall of the bucket and cover the bucket with the same net, hide the incubator on the balcony in the shade. Should work

It didn't work for me. Although, for example, it worked with a ruler, and dead heads so without any substrate at all from pupae lying on bare glass at room humidity were perfectly displayed.

Good afternoon!
The situation is as follows. There was nothing neutral at hand, except dry land!
The chrysalis was half buried in the ground in a hollow under the leaves. Container in the shade on the loggia-south side of the house.
How long to wait now approximately and whether it is necessary to do something else?
Thank you very much!
