Dytiscus marginalis is. They have smooth females, and I have some. In circumcinctus, the metacox processes are noticeably sharper.

yes.gif Yeah, I stepped on curcumcinctus female and narrower on top.
1) D. marginalis
2) D. curcumcinctus
What I come across all the time:

The one on the right is circumcinctus. On the left, too, it seems. If the yellow border completely circles the eye, then it is.

On the left marginalis, but on the right Cybister lateralimarginalis De Geer, 1774 it looks like??? For M. O. nonsense in my opinion. If so, congratulations.

Sash, and where exactly near Zagorsk (at the very cottage there) wink.gif

It is near Khotkovo, Zolototilovo village.
These days (August 5-9 of this year) was the most interesting year of butterflies (9 new species arrived that had not previously been found in these places. In general, this is probably all that was interesting this yearsmile.gif, and from the beetles here are the last two and some other small things. I'll post them on the definition page later.

From beetles, the Buffoon (Cybister) in general, in my opinion, a record for the near Moscow region (and M. O. it seems). This is not our beetle (or very rare). beer.gif
P.S. Well, yes, here it is definitely: http://www.zin.ru/Animalia/Coleoptera/rus/dyt_1402.htm
I was surprised, so surprised.

Yes, really: it makes sense to go through the local reservoirs on this subject next year:

Perhaps it's not too late this year either. In Samara, in any case, I caught the latest cibister on October 19, when it was +5 degrees above the water all day.

by the way, he flew to the light

Well, it doesn't fly far, and beetles don't migrate (especially aquatic ones). It's somewhere in the vicinity.
There is a chance to find more in the nearby ponds.

According to Oleg Brekhov. The find is certainly interesting, but not the first. Individual individuals may well fly into the MO. Now, if you had a lot of zibister in the crowd...

And more. According to both Oleg Brekhov and Vasily Dyadichko, it would be good to publish the find.

I'm a little late for the most interesting part! Briefly: both in D. marginalis and D. curcumcinctus females are ribbed and smooth (in the latter, smooth, according to my observations, occur more often than in the former). But Cybister lateralimarginalis for the Moscow region is a find, if not outstanding, then extremely (to put it mildly) interesting! Congratulations! beer.gif beer.gif beer.gif

All of these are under-colored Hydrochara caraboides. Just in case, check for a spike on the keel of the prothorax. And then, after tsybister and N. flavipes, you can expect smile.gif
Sex can be determined by the curve of the claws: in males, they are bent sharply, at a right or sharp angle, and in females - more smoothly or crescent-shaped.

Swimmers:
1, 3, 4-yes, Ilybius fuliginosus, 3 and 4-males (on the front legs), 1 is not visible.
2-it also seems to be ilibius, as a variant of subtilis female, but this is pure shamanism, they are generally difficult.

Water lovers Hydrobius fuscipes. On the claws (better than the front legs) of the female, it seems to me.
