Dear colleagues, the season has finally opened today. The weather conditions are quite spring - like: +8 and cloudy. I hung up the carrier in the garden and only three copies arrived at the light, which in my opinion is quite good for the end of March smile.gif

Filmed in Saratov, Molochki district.

Please help me determine!

Dear forum participants, Please tell me brazhnikov, upper as it seems to me KENTROCHRYSALIS CONSIMILIS? But lower SIEVERSI or STRECKERI?

As far as I know, K. consimilis is only found in Japan. If anyone has reliable data on the findings of the species in Russia, it will be interesting to find out. The other two species are difficult to distinguish, especially in the photo. K. sieversi is darker, larger, and more contrasting. But this is very conditional.

Tajik - D. porcellus L. Is similar to the suellus form, but it is still porcellus. With DV-yes, D. ascoldensis. Soak your butterflies in galosha gasoline, they will look better without belly fat.

Thank you very much! And suellus is not a separate species but a form of porcellus?

Thank you very much! And suellus is not a separate species but a form of porcellus?

Yes, this form is brownish in color. It was sometimes treated as a species, but in recent years I have not seen any evidence of its species status.

Well, regarding apamea and lacanobia, it's enough to look into the eyes with a good magnification, real gadenins have hairs sticking out of their eyes. In my opinion, the first 3 are Lacanobia amurensis (aliena), the last one is L. suasa, if you don't have something of your own, I don't have Blue on hand right now.

This is not a different name, but a different generic combination. There can be no "correct" option here, it is always a question of the writer's personal views, and the nomenclature is generally an artificial thing, invented for our convenience, there are so many people, so many opinions.

By the way, this is a good litmus test for people: when someone says that some generic combination is wrong, and the correct one is this - you know: this is an asshole*.

As for this particular case - in modern publications, Syricoris is more often separated from Celypha into a separate genus - I have no idea how justified this is.

* - except when completely outdated combinations are corrected (such as Papilio podalirius or Catopta thrips).
