A unique specimen from Morocco is a ginandromorph of the North African endemic, very rare species Berberia abdelkader. Berberian gynandromorphs were not previously known and described.

Fresh bilateral gynandromorph of A1 quality, without fat areas and without disturbed fringe areas, with pronounced asymmetry: the left pair of wings belongs to the female, the right pair to the male.
Dimorphism can be seen in the figure, androconia are partially expressed, which are distributed in uncharacteristic fields, in contrast to standard male specimens.

The specimen belongs to a rare species of marigold that flies in the autumn in the rocky mountain steppes of Morocco and Algeria. Males actively fly during the hottest part of the day, and females almost never take off, sitting in the dense turf of cereals.
