Hello!
I create an educational and entertaining app for children and adults.
We need a kind of" base " on insects. I searched the Internet and couldn't find the full information. And it is necessary to understand this seriously.
Maybe there are people here who are well versed in insects, who can help you create the necessary database or at least tell you where to find it.
An image and data on insects are required.
The data is as follows:
+ Size
+ Movement speed
+" Strength " of the body
+" Power " of the jaws or paws
+ Poison power (if poisonous)
+ Power of vision
+ Masking (how much it is adapted to blend in with the environment)
+ Life span
+ Food Type: Grass / Flesh/Both
+ Habitat halo
+ Flies/Crawls/Jumps/Swims?
+ Additional information.features. (what are the distinguishing features from similar species?)

Such information is needed about 3-4 bright (special) types of each class or squad (depending on how much / visually/ they are different).
At least 200-300 species. If everything is OK, then even more.
Do you have anyone who understands? A reward is possible. I really need this information.
Thank you to everyone who can tell me about my question=)

+ Habitat halo

That's cool! lol.gif

01.04.2012 17:57, feniks

and the "power of vision" is not cool?)))

Some toy, probably....... Like "Kill the Bug" wink.gif

And what, exactly, to take? One word is "educational entertainment app". But what is attached to it?

Bububububu)))

Well, and then everyone laughs, why are there so many nonsense in toys)
It's quite normal. occupation, especially the reward offered. And the work is serious, 300 types of paint, and even the units of measurement need to be agreed,
these are the parameters

+ Movement speed
+" Strength " of the body
+" Power " of the jaws or paws
+ Poison power (if poisonous)
+ Power of vision

if you correctly describe it, this work will be of a cosmic scale, and additional research will be needed))))
Kstti's pads are superfluous, and the power of vision is quite normal. formulation, resolution+viewing angle+sensitivity+color perception=visual power, and all this for 300x views, kapets, after such an entertaining project, you can become an okodemik))))))

Sorry for the delay in responding. You didn't receive any notifications to your email address, although it's signed in.

I apologize for "halo" - I have never used this word.

The program is planned not simple, I understand. I tried to study the issue myself, and realized that there is a lot of digging. So I decided to check with knowledgeable people.

So you think that this is too much work and there is no such information in the reference books?

Let me clarify. That I don't need academic accuracy.
For example,
+ The speed of movement
can be specified with an approximate accuracy rating from 0 or 1 to 10.
Are there any insects that don't move at all? If yes, then the speed is 0. If not, we take the slowest insect and give it 1. We take the fastest insect (there is a horse beetle or something) and give it 10. For the rest, we give the speed relative to the specified landmarks.

+ Body strength
Similarly from 1 to 10 you can put a rating. Some toughest bug-10. A moth or whatever it is that you touch and it will burst. We set this value to 1. We distribute all the others relatively on the scale.

It's the same with poison and vision.
Unfortunately, I have very vague knowledge in this area (I come from the IT field). But I think there are insects that are almost blind (they have a developed sense of smell), and others have a huge viewing angle and great visual acuity. We also set a rating.

I just thought that there is reference data and knowing the general picture of classes, you can take data by type from reference books. If this is not the case, then maybe giving such approximate estimates you can make the base I need.

I'll add more. My intentions are serious. So if you have a desire to do this work, we can continue the conversation in more detail.

There is no such information in reference books, but the work is not very big and big, a really enthusiastic young naturalist will make smile.gifIf the units of measurement are conditional, then even more so. Simply, a lot of insects need to be described)

In addition, there are a lot of difficulties with matching reference points.

For example, the average maximum size for insects is approx. 10cm, but there are exceptions, up to 50cm!
If you take the upper limit of 10 cm, then such exceptions will be "lost", they can no longer be included in your cclist. And if you take the maximum size of 50 cm, then all other insects will appear to be midgets. smile.gif

For example, let the size of a hornet be 3cm, the scale is estimated from 1 to 10
Then if you take the Lmax of 10 cm then 10 cm/h10=1, that is, 1 cm of length has one point
then the size of the hornet is 3 points

if you take L Max 50 cm, then 50 cm/h10=5, that is, for 5 cm of length there is one point
, then the size of the hornet is less than 1 point, there is no such value, so it is equal to 1 point. But since the huge number of insects is less than 5 cm, then almost all insects will have a size score of 1 ))))

And there will probably be a lot of such jokes wink.gif

By the way, in theory, as an option, you need a non-linear scale with an offset to the left, then all size categories will differ smile.gif

Habitat - is this also in points, depending on the occupied area, or in text format? smile.gifOr it's like land, water, in general, you need to develop a methodology for more standards. and only then describe, take an entomologist in the project ))))

take an entomologist to the project ))))

Looking for an entmologist for a project beer.gif
Conditions are discussed individually.

Do you guys want to hear something like $xx for an insect?
I can't say that. If there are any interested parties, let's talk in person.
