Because you want to catch them immeasurably more, and accordingly, in excitement, you wave more with a net, camera, or something else )

Are you sure that this pattern really exists? It is too light to draw inference from multiple instances...

In addition, they may have behaved fearfully under the influence of other, even if not obvious, factors - weather conditions, time of day, the phase of the Moon, Mars and Venus, a recent predator attack, etc.

Or maybe the behavior of melanistic individuals really has something to do with the developmental abnormalities that lead to such coloration - but then this requires careful study and proof...

8 years ago, I caught 4 more of these specimens and they were all very shy, and next to the usual angular wings were almost manual.

Or maybe the melanist understands that he is special and attracted increased attention, so he behaves more cautiously?

Not at all. I caught one of them sitting on my hand and drinking a lot of sweat.

I once caught the gynandromorphic P. napi in a field. Flew like crazy, barely caught!
