Good afternoon to respected entomologists. Honestly, I am not even an amateur in this field, but I love and respect nature. The essence of the problem is this: for the third year in a row, carpenter bees have been living in the country, as I have determined. The animal is rare, but here (Ukraine, Kharkiv region) even more so. They settled in the idol (two oak stumps one on top of one, and a wooden bust on top) and apparently it was thoroughly undermined - the construction began to tilt. Of course, they propped it up, strengthened it, but it's not for long, judging by how many tyrses fly from there. Is a neat relocation option possible? Can you replace the decks in stages - one in one year, another in another? Or somehow move the nest to a hollow tree? Even ready to provide them with evidence from ordinary bees. And when is it better to perform these operations-in the fall or spring?
In general, advise how best to get out of the situation. The animals are very beautiful and good-natured - it will be a pity if they fly away and even more sorry if the house is destroyed and the family is lost.
Thank you.

No evidence will suit them... unless another deck is nearby) I don't remember how they spend the winter to be honest - but can a sharpened stump be removed with zzimoy and put separately? on another stump specially designed for bees. Well, under the idol-another...

Since you have already decided to take care of the animals , it is best to replace the inhabited stumps with fresh ones, you can do it in winter. I don't know how or where they spend the winter, but once they settle in the same place for the third year, they will be there next year, if you don't take the stumps 10 km away smile.gif. You can simply drag the affected tree stumps somewhere to the side, where they will not interfere with anyone...

Won't they freeze if you disturb them in winter?
