Today I saw an article in the tear-off calendar-Ursa vulgaris!!! (further, it is written about allergies due to caterpillar hairs and scales on the wings, it is also written that a mass species, I wonder what kind they had in mind?)

22.05.2008 19:47, Ilia Ustiantcev

This is usually called Kaya.

22.05.2008 19:54, AntSkr

Are the Spilosoma genus unusual? And many others?
And about the allergy from scales on the wings, can anyone comment on whether this is possible?

22.05.2008 21:20, RippeR

There are no allergies, only serious diseases that have not yet been classified, and then death frown.gif
lol.gif

22.05.2008 21:23, AntSkr

I also once saw a sentence like: "A large night peacock's eye flies over flowers", they would also write that it feeds on them lol.gif

22.05.2008 21:49, RippeR

Yeah, he's using his proboscis to break through the skin of w-x and eat blood.. And he has a hypnotic look in his eyes - he puts victims into a hypnotic state with them, so they don't resist. and he eats because of the lack of a mouthpiece - he uses a nozzle on the muzzle from a needle, which injects food through the tubes immediately into the stomach lol.gif
At least I should go to the press lol.gif

Mdaa. A specific horntail. Horntail on the whole sheet and as much as three hundred rubles. Buy something, make a poster and send it to your former institute, nehay enlightened-smile.gif. There, as my former manager (a man with deep conceit, but far from deep knowledge) once gave me a great time. They sent him material from Chimkent for identification, so he wrote back to them that this is an American white butterfly, a quarantine pest, and it is necessary to prepare equipment and preparations for treatment. As soon as I saw this ABB, I rushed like a whirlwind to the deputy director of science to delay the letter.-smile.gif ABB turned out to be a very broken giant mayfly, Palenginea pseudolongicauda. A poor mass flew out of the Syr Darya River to play, and she was caught, slandered and almost processed. Just a little more, and local fumigators with scuba gear and a sprayer would have to dive into the river-smile.gif.

And in vain you all laugh, gentlemen... About three weeks ago, there was a report about a Chinese man who started selling bags in Beijing with the inscription " Mosquitoes killed with their own hands." And everyone laughed too, but in the first week the Chinese earned more than 10 thousand pupaars... This is a business, gentlemensmile.gif, Even in Soviet times there was a joke about a crocodile and a monkey washing banana skins.

About this Chinese man with mosquitoes - this is how he promoted himself, although I did not understand why the sale of dead mosquitoes brought him huge profits. Apparently, these are features of the Chinese market.
About the mail portal.<url>-many people register their mail there. So here is the project "bugs", which participate in the "cockroach races". So are they beetles or cockroaches?) I addressed this question to the site administration, but never received an answer.
There is also a project called "answers". Who doesn't know - some people ask questions, others answer them. And I decided to somehow enlighten people in terms of biology (there is such a section there-animals and plants"). And very often people ask about tipulid. Like what kind of monsters are flying, whether to be afraid of them or not. So, some people answer that these are harmless insects, because they are males of those types of mosquitoes whose females drink blood. I was absolutely thrilled. I tried to convince these "experts" to change their minds, but later I saw the same answers to similar questions.
There is also a version that these are evil and deadly mosquitoes, which were bred by the Americans and brought to Russia. About the Colorado potato beetle there, by the way, also some friend wrote the same thing.

And here's a special one for Mylabris:
A man came to our department recently and brought broken Mylabris variabilis wrapped in small pieces of paper. So in each paper bag there were (judging by the remains) 10 pieces. These are such "doznyaki". They treat him according to some special Caucasian prescription. And he needed to find out what kind of species it was so that he could go collect it himself (although I didn't understand how it fit in his head, apparently, he was going to catch beetles and ask if he was variabilis or not). So this wonderful person told us that this treatment is very cool. That after a couple of receptions, his liver was very sore and there were pains when, sorry, urinating. And all these symptoms indicate the correctness of treatment.
Well, we showed him several books like "Poisonous animals and plants" with the described symptoms of his "treatment", which is actually quite serious poisoning. But this "healer" was not convinced and he tried to tell us his wonderful recipe for cooking these beetles. And when we were done, he went off to treat his friends.
If anyone else has heard of this "treatment", please tell us

Not only have I heard of something like this, but I've even read it somewhere for a long time. Only the treatment was offered not with a remedy from Mylabris variabilis, but with an infusion from Spanish flies-Lytta vesicatoria. However, they are also abscesses.

Maybe the Caucasian equivalent of a Spanish fly? I think their cantharidin is not much different from cantharidin litt. The Spanish fly was once widely used in Europe, however, its special fans quickly went to their forefathers.

I, in general, also thought that this is an analog of the spank, but it has not been used for a long time as far as I know). For the forefathers became reluctant. I think that the Caucasians should also have been reluctant to be so poisoned. But this friend said that this recipe was told by his friend, who now went to Europe, and his Georgian grandfather told him all this.
In addition, this friend told me something about potency (sorry).
By the way, one of the teachers then said that he read somewhere about the fact that high-born Egyptian women stuffed drugs from some abscesses of their slaves, after which they became excellent lovers. But only for one night.

19.08.2008 10:54, Bukashechnik

The manager, who famously produces mayflies in Russia, is also very interested in the Spanish fly. I was just then collecting abscesses (they kept records of locust entomophages), so he pestered me to bring him a box or two of beetles. I really wanted to advise him, if he was tormented by the mania of sexual gigantismsmile.gif, to run to the nearest pharmacy for viagra and not to powder the brains of busy people, but since he was still the boss, I had to explain for a long time what cantharidin is and what it is dangerous for. Apparently, I overdid it a little, then I didn't have anything to take, I was afraid to approach abscesses during business trips-smile.gif. In general, I saved several hundred beetles from sex terrorismsmile.gif. Or sexual harassment?-smile.gif

Creepy, of course.
But when you start telling people that it's better to use a pill than beetles, they say that pills are chemicals, and beetles are natural. And in general, poison in small quantities is useful.

19.08.2008 12:30, Bukashechnik

Yeah. And when you tell employees of the Ministry of Agriculture, and sometimes just agricultural workers, that it is better to use targeted biologics against pests that act against one species, rather than destroying everything chemical, they all shout about the high efficiency of chemistry, and that, for example, Adonis is absolutely safe chemistry. Like it just decomposes in the soil as soon as the locusts beat. This safe chemical completely mowed down the same abscesses, boils and other non-target fauna, and then traces of it were found even in the breast milk of women in the treated areas. But the chemistry still turns out to be safe, according to official reports of the Ministry of Agriculture, and very effective, I quote "against Asian, Moroccan locusts and other species from the family of harmful grasshoppers" (Report on the testing of chemical preparations for 2002). In general, not only is chemistry safe, but they have also discovered a new family of harmful grasshoppers (dybka and gampsokleis probably belong to the family of useful grasshoppers, they eat harmful ones -smile.gif), which include three types of locusts-smile.gif

I don't know, but judging by the number of offers (even through and-no), those who want to spend kantaridin have not decreased... smile.gif

19.08.2008 22:48, AlexEvs

Yeah. And when you tell employees of the Ministry of Agriculture...

Yes, it's actually very sad. After all, there was a fairly well-organized pest control system. All these stations. The same migratory locust was monitored, they knew where it lays its eggs. And now what? Chemistry filled - and order. frown.gif

Recently, I spent half a day explaining to a friend from the media that there are no helmet-headed grasshoppers, there are lol.gifball-headed ones. I get an answer - And figs knows it, maybe that would not blow my ears... lol.gif

And at the expense of cantharidin and here among the grannies, too, there are persistent stories about its type of medicinal properties. Probably read it somewhere in stupid newspapers like healthy lifestyle. I would ban such publications altogether.

As for cantharidin, there were always plenty of people willing to buy stuff. Once there was a time when, under the guise of miraculous means for weight loss, they sold the eggs of some tapeworm, I think tapeworm, I don't remember exactly now. Weight loss of course was, and guaranteed, but to walk with worms in the belly-smile.gif. And people, even when it became known on the basis of what this panacea was created for those who want to find the figure of a strong Buchenwald, still took, and even for good money-smile.gif.
And as for locusts and other pests-pour about and without. In 2003, in the Balkhash region, we were looking for coolies for experiments, but we barely found them. But the gentlemen from the tercoms still poured the preparations with krynki, as it was necessary to report for the processing of the declared areas. As a result, it was difficult to find anyone in the vast expanses, except for tetramorium ants, which devoured the dead entomofauna with pleasure. frown.gif

I found absolutely amazing information that hemerobes are fly larvae eek.gif
Here is the link.
http://content.mail.ru/arch/16598/750078.html
I quote-
" Tip of the day Useful hemerobes
Do not worry if you notice flies with large reticulated wings on the site in the spring. These are Hemerobes, larvae of flies from different families belonging to reticuloptera. These flies are closely related to the Goldeneye. They have light gray or brownish-red wings with a span of 7 to 30 mm. Both adults and their spindle-shaped larvae feed on aphids and other soft-coated insects, as well as spider mites. 42 different types of hematomas are known. In gardens, they live on trees, shrubs, and sometimes on herbaceous plants."

Not only is it a complete heresy, but there are also problems with the Russian language...

I was digging in the journal "Science and Life", http://nauka.relis.ru/31/0004/31004062.htm, came across this: "The spider belongs to the class of arachnids, or arachnids (Arachnida). Spiders number about sixty thousand species, different in appearance. There are nine to thirteen orders of modern arachnids and several fossils. The spider in the picture is similar to Pholcus falangioides (family Pholcidae). Plants are not harmed by spiders." But it wasn't enough for spiders to harm plantssmile.gif. And the spider in the picture looks like Pholcus falangioides (family Pholcidae), like a pig on a swallowsmile.gif

Thank you, dear Bolivar, for adding this update. I was just about to go over it (the spider was the first to catch my eye) when the connection was cut off. Planning a brutal murder of the provider mad.gif

I'm not even funny about the introduction of fat people from China, if you listen to local grandmothers, then the Chinese and our recently explored oil is sucked underground and clouds with rain are driven here so that we don't have a harvest. But what would a scorpion tail look like lol.gif
