Guys advise who is familiar...I'm going to take a photo in Shilovskaya oak Grove in the Voronezh Region...the main goal is to shoot a deer beetle so to speak at the time of rut (summer), fights, mating, etc...but they say that the Alpine rosalia also lives there ,is there any chance? and what else you can take pictures of there...I mean insects..I will go from June 12 to June 16...

I'm not sure about Rosalia.. The beetle is somehow more confined to the mountainssmile.gif And the Deer "runs" in June, yes. then there are old females, with the men quite tight..

Well, I'm going in June, right??

Dear zerg69, you probably meant the Shipovskaya oak grove - the famous Shipov Forest?
Rosalia is found mainly in beech forests. As far as I know, the beech tree near Voronezh is not particularly growing. Rosalia is also found in the Caucasus, in the Lower Volga region and in the South. In the Urals. In general, you can catch the oldest deer in May. This is no longer the case in June.

Nil, what are some reliable points in the Volga region? You're right about the beech tree, of course. But she goes a little later, in my opinion (on the coast of the Caucasus, Meikpride and I caught her in the second half of July). And if there is a deer, it will definitely be in mid-June. Moreover, such a long spring.

smile.gif I do not know the points, alas. I have data on the May summer of deer from the Shipova Forest from some popular book - I don't remember which one. In June, it should go.
As for Rosalia, I caught her myself, also in July and also on the coast.
By the way, I advise you to look at a nice info on the Thorn forest and specifically, the horns http://www.zin.ru/ANIMALIA/COLEOPTERA/rus/world1a.htm - a selection of articles and a report by P. Korzunovich http://www.zin.ru/ANIMALIA/COLEOPTERA/rus/ship2007.htm

Nilson thanks for the correction...Of course, the Thorn forest...Something flashed in my head..also thank you for the links on deer..just what you need...About Rosalia in the Thorn Forest - I just read somewhere and wanted to hear from more professional people than various magazines...perhaps this is some kind of bike...I know about the Ulyanovsk and Chelyabinsk regions, but I don't know the exact localities, so there's no point in going...Thank you again..

Ulyanovsk region has 3 locations in total. In the Samara region (in ZHGZ), it was observed in the mass.

In the Ostrogozhsky district of the Voronezh Region, in an oak forest on 11.06.2008, I caught 12 males and 4 females in 2 hours. I took two males of 75 mm and one of 39 mm.
Shipov Forest is only 120 km to the north...

P.S. It's about Lucanus cervus.)))

About Rosalia alpina. Deer are not uncommon, in my opinion.

- My plowman found Rosalia alpina, (if it is this particular species of the genus Rosalia) in Krasnaya Polyana (Krasnodar Territory). "I didn't store it correctly," and the bug just scattered over the spare parts in my hands. frown.gif
