And a bunch of crabs - "souvenirs from the sea" are sold to our vacationers in the south, horror - they take a "freshly" dead crab for productivity, paint it and shape it with thick varnish. Imagine then this fermented mass on the road will explode from under the varnish-this is still a chemical weapon, I'll tell you...

Yeah... to put it mildly, not a very pleasant show

All lovers of zoological tales - here on Alib.ru posted on sale one of the most prikolistyh (exactly BAECHNYH!) stories about the adventures of zoologists and their travels (here's how to write):

Babenko V. The frog on the wall. Green series. M. Armada 1998g. 428s. Hardcover, Regular format.
(Seller: BS-Volodyapiter, Saint Petersburg.) Price 250 rub. Order
The author of the book `The Frog on the Wall` Vladimir Babenko, a professional zoologist who worked for a long time at the Moscow State University.M. V. Lomonosov (now teaches at Moscow State University). During his long-distance business trips, he had to observe a variety of animals. However, this book is not just about frogs, birds, and animals. On their expeditions, zoologists also meet people - foresters, gamekeepers, hunters, fishermen, poachers, and other wanderers. Such meetings are usually associated with extraordinary personalities, interesting events, and unexpected adventures. This is, so to speak, a by-product of expedition work, impressions that have an indirect relation to zoology. Based on them, the author wrote a book, showing the work of people of a rare specialty-field zoologists and telling what happens to them during their travels. Monographs, books, articles, theses and reports speak about the scientific work of zoologists. But how this material was obtained and what remains `behind the scenes`, few people know. And this is also the subject of the book " The Frog on the Wall`. Some of the stories are funny, some are sad, and some are dramatic. In general, as it happens in expeditions, and in ordinary life, too.

They say that the continuation of his stories "Orangutologists", alas, has not yet been published...

Where can I buy this book in Moscow? Can you tell me?

Oh, I read this book a long time ago, when I was about 10 years old. The author is an ornithologist, and most of his stories are related to birds in one way or another, but it is the baechnaya part that really stands out there. I highly recommend it.

Here is a funny little book sent from Tolyatti:

"Russian folk proverbs, sayings, riddles, signs and superstitions about insects" Tolyatti, 1995. IEVB RAS, 49 p.

A topic is given - and then everything that was found in Russian folklore.

BEETLE
In THE field and beetle meat.
A cancer is not a fish, a bat is not a bird, a beetle is not an animal....

BEDBUG
Where the priests are-there are bedbugs, and the men have cockroaches.

A BUMBLEBEE
is like a spider's web: a bumblebee will slip through, but a fly will get stuck.

Winter is terrible for wolves, and summer is terrible for flies and mosquitoes.

and so on

There have been no tales for a long time... A short story from four years ago. Again about predators, but in the taiga Primorye region this is the topic of half the stories. smile.gif

THERE ARE NO BIRDS IN THEIR NESTS...

I work as a guide for ecological tours in Primorsky Krai. Once two Italians came to see me. One collects beetles for the collection, the other, his 20-year-old son - "on vacation". He led them into the woods. Suddenly the young Italian asks:
"Here from Z?" (What is it?)
Pointing to the crown of the tree. I saw "creases" of branches on the bird cherry Maak, in the form of a"nest". They are arranged by Himalayan bears. They sit in it and eat berries.
I answer as is:
"Bear Nest." (Bear's nest).
Well, he explained about the berries and that the bear is Himalayan. Slightly more dangerous than brown.
"Bear Nest?"?? the Italian exclaimed, dumbfounded.
"Yes, – I said.
And he repeated about eating berries, in case he didn't understand.
"Bear Nest ... know."
My father was standing next to us, "putting" the captured trophies in the stain.
"Bears?" Mani?! (Bears? A lot?!) - he suddenly started up.
My dad didn't know much English and didn't always understand the conversation quickly.
"Manny," I said honestly.
His son added something verbose in Italian and pointed to the nest .
"Terror," my father said. – Kam baek. (We go back.)
I always follow tourists ' orders without question. And we went back to the cabin.
"Bear Nest.".. – What is it? " the Italian youth repeated in a melancholy voice on the way.
Dad was silent, frowning.
Once again, I felt what foreigners would tell me when they returned to their homeland.
In that distant cold country, vodka is drunk in one gulp,
the sauna is + 130,
and they live in nests instead of birds...
"Terror," their neighbors shake their heads disapprovingly, sipping their chianti.

Here I couldn't resist - a good joke almost on the subject (replace the gibbon with the Himalayan bear):

Radio announcement: An evil gibbon escaped from the zoo! If you find it, immediately call the zoo by phone so-and-so!! The beast is very dangerous for others!!! A man goes out into the yard in the morning and sees a hairy monster sitting on his apple tree and brutally shaking it. Without hesitation, he calls: I have your monkey in my yard!
Zoo: don't go near her, we'll be right there.
After 10 minutes, the dog handler arrives with a gun and a small evil dog named Albertik, letting the dog off the leash says:
- do not be afraid everything is under control!
The dog, running around the tree, growls angrily, foam spurting from his mouth in anger.
Dog handler: - now I will climb a tree and start shaking it, the gibbon will fall from the tree from shaking, Albertik will cling to his balls, after which the gibbon will become numb, I will get down from the tree, tie it up and take it to the zoo.
The dog handler, giving the gun to the peasant, says: - HERE, HOLD THE GUN, I CLIMBED!
The man: - and why do I need a gun?
Dog handler: - if I fall from the tree first, shoot Albertik!!!

I am reading a book about the Love of Travel by Leonid Starikovsky. Funny episode:

This year I contacted the staff of the Entomology Laboratory of the Institute of Biology of the USSR Academy of Sciences and received an official scientific assignment from them, so that in the future I would have the same task for routes at the USSR Sports Tourism Championship. Remember, I told you that the champion is determined by the sum of points according to various criteria, including socially useful activities. It was necessary to confirm the usefulness of documents. Sometimes there were so many such documents about the usefulness of the activity along the way that it was unclear when the group managed to"do all this". It happened that a mark for this criterion allowed a team that was obviously weak to bypass strong opponents who had passed a truly difficult sports route.
We couldn't ignore this approach, so I was looking for a real case that I could do during the journey. And such a case was found: we started catching butterflies for Novosibirsk entomologists! After the Kodar practice, we could become suppliers of fauna exhibits from the most inaccessible areas of the country, where previously only prisoners were sent to mine non-ferrous metals and other minerals, and scientific expeditions had not been visited for almost seventy years.
At first, my suggestion to catch butterflies, beetles and spiders did not arouse enthusiasm among my fellow participants. At the first stage, we had to introduce a reward system: additional sugar was required for a certain number of insects caught. But soon, not for sugar, but for conscience's sake, our guys, keen on entomological hunting, were rushing around the Kodar mountains and valleys with white nets, scaring away swallowtails and apollons.
That year, Kodar was crowded, and most of the sports groups were always noisy Ukrainians, who that year held the Republican Tourist Games here. And here on the path among the elk, overcoming the rise and incredible heat for Siberia, on the approaches to the very upper reaches of the Lednikovaya River, a large group of Zaporozhtzi goes. Suddenly they see a strange scene ahead: a thin, tall, bare-legged man in a plain white shirt that does not cover his knees, rushing headlong along the kurumnik crossbar and frantically waving a white net, trying to catch a large apollo, leaving on a "low flight" from the chase. The man falls, jumps up, falls again, obviously scraping his knees in blood, but continues the chase, approaching the tourists from Zaporozhye who are frozen in bewilderment.
Suddenly, an equally strange, heavy, bearded figure in a green panama hat appears from the bushes - this, as you guessed, was me, and calmly explains to the shocked tourists: "Kashchenko Hospital on a morning walk". After that, the Cossacks, not accepting the joke, turn and begin to retreat in a hurry, not wanting to understand the phenomenon that presented itself to their eyes. And this is Kostya Dorofeev in a white canvas shirt, which was usually issued in the uranium production as workwear, enthusiastically catching a rare large specimen of a butterfly, trying to get ahead of his more agile comrades who caught up to a hundred different insects that day, for which the Institute of Biology will then write us a large thank-you note.
Starting this summer, entomology will be our most favorite activity on the route, overshadowing even our favorite preference.

I recommend reading other parts of the book as well. Amazing journeys! And it's written great!

Yeah, interesting and informative, and information about Erebia (callias) tsherskiensis...
"...In the morning, we continue to descend the Burkata Valley. A small river dives into a small canyon. The proposal to bypass it from above is not accepted, since then you will often have to go down and up to overcome the numerous tributaries. The depth of the stream is not great, and we usually go straight through the water. Wet, but much faster, and less effort is needed. So, bypassing the clamps, then the right, then the left bank, we go down to the border of the forest. And the forest on Burkat is simply beautiful - a real park forest of Daurian larch trees.
And here it is necessary to say that it was in these beautiful places on Burkat that we, fulfilling the task of the Institute of Biology of the USSR Academy of Sciences, compiling a collection of insects that we caught with passion throughout this difficult route, caught the rarest butterfly that existed before in only two copies in the collection of Ivan Dementievich Chersky. They were named after him - the Cherskizids. Imagine, there are only two butterflies in the world, and here, on Burkat, thousands of them clung to the drying puddles, creating some mystery of their own and not suspecting their exceptional rarity. After our victorious return to Novosibirsk, entomologists announced the second discovery of a new butterfly. It became the subject of scientific reports, it was taken to an international symposium in Canada, and it is listed in catalogues as a butterfly caught by Ivan Dorofeev from the expedition of Leonid Starikovsky..."

spring, field harness...

Laughing gopher in an uncomfortable hole.
A bug landed on the back of the car.
The hedgehog laughs, runs around the hill,
The fool has completely gone off the rails!
Birds fly in strange circles,
And a filly whinnies, foaming at the mouth.
The centipede kicks its legs.
The mole's laughter brings tears to his eyes.
Squirrels laugh and fall from trees.
An owl hoots amusingly in a hollow tree.
Rook laughs until the feathers fall out.
And a fly with a cricket tipsy.
Grasshoppers laughing in the grass somewhere,
Mouse, snake, lizard and aphid...
It was a hot, dry summer.
The hemp fields were burning…

Tell me your stories - I offer you real "mushroom" stories. Hang in the network will be very short (can still hang somewhere?) stories of Professor A. I. Ivanov (Penza, PSSA). "Stories about Russian mushrooms". I advise everyone to read it - Alexander Ivanovich writes enthusiastically, an extraordinary person, a real scientist and just a good person. I don't even have the original copy of the book, it sold out so quickly....

In the topic of sharing and selling material, someone recently wrote that they dream of a golden butterfly... Easy. smile.gif There was once a case in Primorye. I once saw a golden spray at Vladik's Chinese market - well, very cheap. And the Idea was born. I bought. I brought it to a bungalow near Anisimovka, where I lived and collected, and painted it in gold... the wings of several living Maaks. I covered the bodies with a piece of paper, because the spray was "thermonuclear". The Maaks were still intoxicated, but they staggered up and began to flutter around the clearing like ordinary butterflies. I was waiting for the arrival of a friend's "fishing trip"... He arrived in the late afternoon, had a drink, fished a little in the light, and in the morning, with a small hangover, he went out with a net into a clearing... How the bumpkin ran! Ronaldo is resting at the World Cup. He swung the net like Federer... Caught it!!! I understood everything at once. Well, he says, you're a humorist, Yuri. I thought aberrant... Or a lot of vodka. Um... Released the loot. The golden Maak shot up into the sky, its wings glittering in the sun. Blissfully watched them go. There is something sacred about this color... Carried away by the theme, I painted the carbuses in gold-for the arrival of another friend. But they didn't go into the glasses. frown.gif

Belyanka, which we collected in the Ulyanovsk region does not emit milky juice, often collected directly under the moss. The plates are bluish, the edges of the cap are turned up, the center is funnel-shaped concave. With age, the fruit body becomes whitish-yellow, the cap becomes funnel-shaped. The fungus was most often found in pine forests, under moss, and in large and very large families.

Yes, it's her darling! How many hours of memories are recorded in the "gray" substance associated with hiking for this mushroom! By the way, in the Tver region, I collected it only once in the amount of 2 pieces, but at home...., the aroma of warmed pines, soft moss under my feet, and the sandy cliffs of ravines overgrown with hazel, but it's a pity those times somehow got worn out, and became almost unreal. As if then there was life, like the first unripe but juicy strawberries from their own garden, and now a blinkered race for survival, and a crumbling herbarium from the scraps of the past.
