Caption: "Spanish researchers from the University of Vigo have discovered the ability of dragonflies to reproduce without males." Published recently in El Pais (one of the central Spanish newspapers).

We are talking about the dragonfly Ischnura hastata, which actually lives in America, but a parthenogenetic population is known from the Azores. This fact has been known for a long time, and why it suddenly became hot news is not clear to me. wink.gif
