In the Nizhny Novgorod region, I found only one specimen near the Gorky reservoir, on the territory of a sanatorium near a mixed forest with a predominance of spruce and pine, on a day in May. On dozens of soil traps placed at a distance of approx. 1 km. none of them came from the detection point.

Roman, can I have a point?

About Sarabus nitens in Belarus (or rather in the north of Belarus)

C. (Hemicarabus) nitens Linnaeus, 1758 (= aureus DeGeer, 1774; ~ marginatus Voet, 1778, nec Linnaeus, 1758; = hookeri Nodier, 1821; ~ aureomicans Letzner, 1850; ~ virescens Letzner, 1850; = pulchellus Brüggemann, 1873; nom. pro nitens Linnaeus; ~ cupreus Westhoff, 1881, nec Linnaeus, 1758; ~ interruptus Westhoff, 1881, nec Fabricius, 1775; = fennicus Géhin, 1885; ~ niger Semenov, 1886, nec Linnaeus, 1758; = subnitens Reitter, 1896; ~ funebris Csiki, 1927; un; nom. pro niger Semenov, 1886; ~ willemsi (Culot, 1986). [Radkevich, 1936, 1970; Alexandrovich et al., 1996; Solodovnikov, 1999a, 2008a (mapping), 2011a; Krasnaya Kniga, 2004; Kuzmich and Solodovnikov, 2003; Sushko, 2003b, 2004a, 2006a, b; Bogutsky, Lukashuk, Medvedev, 2008; Sushko et al., 2011]. Br., Doc., Shar., Mi., Ch., Ver., Pol., Ush., Lep., Shum., Sen., Gor., Vit., Li., Orsh. It is extremely local, but it can reach a high population in its habitat. It prefers light pine and pine–spruce forests on sandy soils, high swamps, drained peatlands, and is currently rare in open habitats and agrocenoses. It is common on swamp trails and other areas with disturbed sphagnum cover in the Yelnya Swamp hydrological reserve of national significance (Sushko, 2003b). Along with the typical f. typ. with green elytra and red-bronze pronotum and solid primary keels, the following aberrations are noted: ab. virescens Letzner, 1850 - with a green pronotum top; ab. auromicans Letzner, 1850-the entire top is golden-bronze-green; ab.interruptus Westhoff, 1881 – with the primary elytra keels torn into separate rounded granules. In recent years, it is extremely rare and has disappeared in most known habitats. Finds: Dokshitsky district, Polyane village, 12 km south of Dokshits, pine forest, 06.1989 (I. I. Thank you, I know about this, but in the Orenburg region?
Distribution of the nominative subspecies in Europe.
It is distributed in Central Europe: from north-eastern Austria in the west, further north to Belgium, Denmark, Southern Sweden; east to the Kaliningrad region of Russia, Grodno region of Belarus; south to Poland (Western Sudetenland), Slovakia and north-western Hungary. An indication of being in Yandex. Metrica. Dagestan, Kurush (Kryzhanovskii, 1983, Kryzhanovskii et all, 1995) - this is incredible, which was discussed earlier (Obydov, 2002). cf. Salatau (Abdurakhmanov, Nakhibasheva, Mukhtarova, 2012). In most areas, it disappeared under the pressure of anthropogenic influence. Currently, it is reliably found in Eastern Germany and Southern Sweden.

subspecies status - if it really exists there (Dagestan) - is still questionable

It's not caught in Orenburg... A photo of a copy from Dagestan is available on the ZIN-ovsky website http://www.zin.ru/animalia/coleoptera/rus/calretib.htm By color, it corresponds to the nominative, but in the same Aktobe region, beetles seem to be both green and bronze, so this aerinus really needs to be confirmed as a subspecies

In the Carabidae of the world, it is shown that nitens occurs in the tundra of the Tyumen region, Yamalo-Nenets auth. the district, as well as in Bashkiria and in the west of the Chelyabinsk region. Here, however, with its biotope is not clear. In Fedorenko's work, it is referred to as a meadow species. confused.gif

4 nitens were caught by me about 20 years ago in the Lipetsk region. The edge of the forest near the swamp. The beetles sat in the narrow post holes that the foresters had dug. I rushed to the place a week later, aimed glasses, but not a single bug...

Point of capture of these nitens: Lipetsk region, Dobrovskiy district, 2 km north of the village of Lipovka, in a pine forest near the edge bordering a meadow and swamp. Early July 1990-92 (I don't remember the exact date). Maybe someone will want to check the location. I don't visit the region myself at this time. And it would be great to know if the bug "stayed" there now.
