Joint expeditions

Community and ForumTravel and expeditionsJoint expeditions

Jukoman, 30.10.2015 9:20

I noticed that the forum repeatedly brought up the topic of joint trips of forum members and planning such trips (with positive or not very good resultssmile.gif).
Maybe I'm wrong?
Did anyone manage to work together like this, traveling together for entomological purposes?

Actually, what am I getting at: I wonder if I offer myself as a travel companion on the forum (territory of Russia, 2016) - will it have any results?

The thing is, I just don't need to go anywhere far. And the company is more fun.

PS To avoid unnecessary questions:
I'm 30 years old. Not disabled.
I am interested in soil inhabitants (microarthrapods) and lozhoskorpions. I.e. most of the beetles and all the butterflies are yours (I will not compete).

if you have a topic like "looking for fellow travelers" or "plans XXXX", if you don't have the 2016 calendar yet, then you can safely add "2016" to the title and see who is going where and whether they are looking for fellow travelers. I met many interesting people through molbiol and successfully traveled with them, pm everything is in your hands/desire/finances/.... go beer.giffor it

They used to go to Dosang like this once. 10 people gathered, but only three arrived at the scene)))

Even as it has!!!
P.S. False scorpions from Malaysia are postponed for you. wink.gif

plans for 2016....
In mid-late May, I would like to be in the Volgograd region./Astrakhan regions. I am making my own plans, but I will also consider any options for cooperation.
A few days, I don't have a car, I have a generator, but it's heavy. interest-beetles / butterflies (except micra)

03.11.2015 21:01, Jukoman

Two points:
1. I will write while here-is there someone who catches in Europe (Germany, Poland, Czech Republic and close to them)?
The fact is that I myself am not in a position to be there in the near future, but I need 1-2 ticks that can be identified as a neotype. We also have a lot of these ticks, but it's better to get closer to the original source of the description. They are caught simply (they live on rotting trees, under logs, in litter, in mushrooms-that is, they are easily visible and relatively easy to catch individually. The work is a correct article of a systematic nature. In Europe, there are no specialists in them, and those who are interested in them are busy up to their ears with other groups.
If there is a person who wants to, then I will tell you the tick and how to catch it-how to distinguish it. The tick is not blood-sucking smile.gif

2. Maybe someone goes to the Russian taiga-tundra-there are such?

Roman, what kind of biotopes are you going to visit?

08.11.2015 13:06, AGG

Roman, what kind of biotopes are you going to visit?

For several years I have been going to Ilovlyu, where there are gullies with chalk outcrops, and I want to go somewhere further south on the sand, but I don't know where exactly, maybe some sandy floodplain

08.11.2015 13:37, Maksim M.

When making some plans in advance, it is not possible to take into account the actual situation at the destination. For this reason, in expeditions it is very often necessary to improvise and navigate already on the spot.Select the biotope and time of the trip.In recent years, I have traveled with forumchanami on the ETR, always successfully and productively, but for many the estimate of the trip is too heavy, and the goals of fishing in the ETR are often not commercial, the duration of the trip to dalnyak is finally a stumbling block, you can continue the list of difficulties forever....For some time there is a group of people who will be able to go somewhere, but this is from experience-not immediately and even at the same time everything does not always work out,imho...Collecting people by region is inconvenient and difficult. For example, everyone comes to me,and then the expedition itself begins. This is convenient for nearby cities, such as Moscow and Kaluga.

here's what's for sure, that's for sure - any trip-impromptu

Summer is a long-winded concept, and I'd like some specifics.

17.11.2015 10:21, Maksim M.

If the Irkutsk region specifically something interesting, you need to navigate by already caught copies., with a label-everything is written there.Or contact one of the Natives, ask questions...From myself personally-I won't drive there ... very far.And the places there are ahrennenye-and mountains and rivers and everything that is!!!!Without a guide nifiga will not find, imho.

And to the Caspian Sea? wink.gif

18.11.2015 20:20, Maksim M.

Dim, as many as 3 times you need to plan,in May, in June, in late July or early August.Imho, in the same places there should be different species, although new points will be systematically identified and monitored by different types of fishing..There are plans-it remains to implement them.Closer to the season, we will decide when and where exactly, otherwise the time is still too early, just a rough outline... umnik.gif confused.gif

We are looking for a person by car at the end of May to Dosang. Approximate route: Kazan-Orenburg-Samara-Volgograd-Astrakhan. Take two generators with you. There are two of us.

The most unpleasant thing about traveling with colleagues is competition for material, so I try not to travel with entomologists anymore. It is unpleasant when a person who says that he collects, for example, beetles, suddenly starts "just in case" from under your nose to "drag" hawkmoth or a scoop from the screen.

11.01.2017 14:57, ИНО

Are you sure it was an entomologist and not a simple drug dealer? In general, competition, as you know, is the engine of progress, including in terms of collecting material.

Yes, I'm sure. I wonder what progress can be made? Choose participants more carefully?

I just can't imagine why a professional paleoanthropologist would need to "steal" hawk moth from a lepidopterist, these are very far-flung areas of scientific interest, but in the interests of commercial ones, beetles and butterflies are always useful... paw on paw go. Although, they say, now many combine...

Progress is normal: competition encourages collecting activity, including its creative component. The same principle as fishing and hunting: in most cases, the result is better in a company than alone (unless, of course, the company is really engaged in fishing, and not libations).

So I thought so, but it turned out that the person was collecting, so, for a souvenir from the trip, suddenly also wanted to put a frame on himself. But I don't agree with the second statement. Comparison with fishing or hunting is more suitable for collecting daytime ones, yes, I tracked them down myself, caught up with them and caught them myself. But what to do when you collect from one screen and from under one light bulb? It's not even close to a fight!

12.01.2017 14:44, ИНО

Like hunting and fishing, everyone should have their own fishing rod. I suspect that if you had tactfully hinted to that entomologist that you needed your screen and this material, he would not have taken it "for a souvenir". And according to your description, just some Shakespearean passions are obtained.

Well, in general, it turned out that more with entomologists (except for close and long-standing friends) I don't drive.

In the upcoming season, no one plans to go to the Polar Urals in the Sobi Valley area? There is a desire, but so far there are no fellow travelers.

To prevent this from happening, it must be clearly specified in advance how to divide the material. I went repeatedly with different colleagues, never had such problems.
