Insects in paint

Community and ForumHow to get rid of insectsInsects in paint

guest: Gosha, 06.02.2008 21:10

for about a year, we had cans with open water-based emulsion left over after repairs. now they wanted to touch up some paint, but when they opened it, the smell was unbearable - the paint was rotten... I didn't mind the paint, but there was an unpleasant surprise floating in the paint itself - some kind of garbage like hatched pupae. these "houses"were also stuck on the lid.
what kind of animal is this? I'm afraid they've hatched, crawled out, and are crawling around the apartment somewhere. or even for the wallpaper that was painted with this paint. how did they even think to live in paint?

the shape of the" houses " is almost cylindrical, tapering to one end, with a hole on the other side. the surface is not smooth, but "segmented". the color is dark brown.
the diameter is slightly smaller than that of a toothpick, it is about 0.5 cm long
, in general, it is shaped like a tube with protein cream, only small... and the hole is not perpendicular to the axis, but oblique.

how interesting! can't you take a picture?

some insects can live (keep alive for years) in very "strong" things-it seems, even in alcohol, formalin, etc.

According to the description, it looks like the shells of puparia flies, and their larvae can live in any rotten food. Don't flies fly around the house?

Musolin, it is no longer possible... They're already freezing in the dumpster

Anthrenus, I flew a lot in the summer, but in a different room. but we thought it was because of the open balcony. and there were a lot of fruit flies in the kitchen this year, they thought, because of the abundance of flower pots... which variant of flies is most likely?

It is unlikely that these are fruit flies, they still prefer fruits and vegetables, and those that flew in the summer could well lay eggs and give another generation.

Thank you so much for your answers!
And the last question... do they really need rotten meat to lay eggs?
i.e. if there are no more places "with a smell" in the apartment, they could still breed?

I think you can rest assured, without the appropriate substrate, they cannot reproduce.

It seems to me that whatever it was, it died anyway. The rotten paint was more of a trap than a substrate for development. There are of course lion cubs developing in a terrible place at first glance-in the restrooms. That you can't even breathe there, and they would like to swim. Lines of Psilopa flies live in pools of oil, larvae of diptera Scatella thermarum can exist at a water temperature of +480C. But I haven't heard about paint. So you can rest assured that the invasion of flies on your living area in the near future is not expected. smile.gif

"water temperature +480C"
Is it like under pressuresmile.gif?

larvae of diptera Scatella thermarum can exist at a water temperature of +480C.

something is doubtful.... what protein can withstand such temperatures? And the double helix?
