Greetings! After seeing the section "insects in the house", I decided to get a "pet"))
I have my eye on 3 types of ground beetles:
1) Carabus exaratus
2) Carabus cancellatus
3) Carabus nemoralis

I really want to decorate my house with at least one of them smile.gif, so I hope that entomologists from the forum will help me mol.gifand write how to keep these creatures, how to take care of them and what to feed)
Thank you in advance=)!

It means so. I think that there will be additions and corrections, but I will write about some content experience. Contained coriaceus in my opinion and some large pterostichov. And even like chichindel, as a food suitable moth, or pipefish, the benefit that it is always at hand in summer and winter. Fill a little earth cover the whole farm with a layer of moss and make sure that there is humidity. On wet moss, ground beetles will be able to clean the paws and antennae from the stuck earth. If you are not going to propagate, you may not need land. I can't say anything for sure here, because some species lay their eggs on moss, some in the ground. and there is a method of growing in petri dishes, etc. I tried to grow the larva of the coriaceus carabus, I had it in a 3-liter jar (10-15 cm of earth), but it didn't work out. Some beetles have food preferences, carabuses don't seem to be very playful, but if you treat them to a slug or maybe even better put them together. I read about mantises that they are threatened with gluttony and tearing from overeating, there were a lot of assumptions and conversations about this. I don't know about ground beetles, confused.gifso ask the specialists who have been in this business for a long time - namely, the feed and the number of feedings.
Good luck growing and observing. smile.gif

Oleg Berlov gave the best methods. Type in the search engine keywords, on the site www.coleoptera.ru If I'm not mistaken, there were his articles.
By the way, Carabus exaratus is a species with autumn breeding like. I kept them but did not breed them, but my St. Petersburg sidekick reminded me that females of this species often dig up and eat them after laying eggs. I haven't seen this myself, and I haven't seen it in other types of carabuses either... In general, carabus and pterostichus are not very difficult to breed, but they are full of intricate species, especially endemic ones. I believe that it is unlikely that anyone in our country will tell you better than Oleg Eduardovich Berlov. By the way, he is a very contact man and personally I was willing to help with consultations.
Good luck.
