Yes ... After such powerful fees, as in the report from lampra, profane hunters report somehow even awkward))) But let's try it anyway. So, from July 22 to August 1, I actively traveled and slightly caught beetles... in the same Croatia)))

I flew with my family to Zagreb, took a car and drove to the Plitvice Lakes. Karlovac had its first good fortune-a pile of excellent broad-leaved "firewood" near the roadside. It was hot, the wood looked fresh, the smell of wood was overwhelming... but the wood was completely empty:
image: _____. jpg
Okay, let's move on. I spent 4 days on Plitvice Lakes. Altitudes of 500-600 meters, a solid beech forest and a deep picturesque canyon with blue lakes and waterfalls:
picture: ______1.jpg
picture: ______2.jpg
picture: ______3.jpg
Famous, in general, the place is beautiful, but there, down there, only one blue crunch was caught. By the way, the entrance to the territory of the lakes is paid (about 1500 rubles per person) and there are terrible queues. But a lover of wandering through the woods will quickly find workarounds))) In addition, the lower part of the canyon (no less picturesque) is generally cut off from the main (paid) routes, but it is quite possible to get there by tricky paths:
image: ___. jpg
The hotel didn't have enough UV lights, there is no active flowering in the area, the forest is dark, there are no streetlights on the roads, and there is little night light in the surrounding farms. There were a lot of lucanus spare parts on the roadsides (they live well without oaks), but only two females were found alive, it's too late for them. Prionus, dorcus-ran a little bit. I put five soil traps in the forest-I easily took a hill of violaceus (I don't know the subspecies) and several large purple beetles (I haven't determined yet whether they are either intracatus or caelatus):
image: _______. jpg
picture: _________.jpg
The main dream – the capture of Rosalia, did not come true. I can't see these freaking beeches - big and small, old and young, in the forest itself and on the outskirts, high and low, and in the dark and in the sun – I can't see rosalia at close range. Apparently, you need to know the secret…Here, sopsno, is the forest inside:
picture: ___________.jpg
In order not to get bored in one place, I started driving around the surrounding tracks every day in search of good fishing spots. In the valleys, everything is dry and bare: on rare flowers, anything but beetles. If you climb high in the mountains-rocks, pines, and just as dry and bare. Wooded passes seemed optimal. For example, a pass on the Korenica – Donji-Lapac road proved to be an excellent hunting ground. Here is the pass itself:
image: _______. jpg
And here is the view from it to the valley:
image: ______. jpg
There is an excellent altitude (up to 1200 m), around a mixed beech-coniferous forest, along the roadsides large flower plots, and even Croats are sawing something in the forest on the sly. Wildlife-naturally teeming, although there are not very many species. I went there as many as three times – I was happy as an elephant (until I saw the lampra report))). First, I picked up barbels (leptura maculata, rubra, aethiops), waxes (probably the usual trichius fasciatus), bronzes (cetonia aurata) on flowers, took only a couple of gnorimus nobilis and something else for small things:
image: ______. jpg
Then on the sawn trunks he fished for goldenrod (two species: some unknown buprestis and eurythyrea austriaca) and monohamus, probably sartor (it's a pity only two guys got caught). Here is the firewood itself:
picture: ______2.jpg
It is well caught in a completely deserted area near Plitvice-Leskovac (this is not far from the lakes). It seems that the Serbs used to live there-now almost everything is abandoned. Height-600 m, beeches, Christmas trees, flowers, on the flowers - beetles. A ground beetle that was new to me (probably Carabus scheidleri praecellens) was running across the road – it was a pity there was no time to set traps there. And that's where my horse is right now:
image: ____. jpg
And then something mixed up:
picture: _______2.jpg
Then I decided to go to the seaside Velebit mountain range. According to rumors, there are oak copses and bug paradise on the eastern slopes (again I look at the report of my predecessor...). I climbed the ridge itself (the road Gospich-Karlobag, pass – 900 m) – there are already bare stones, pine trees and nothing interesting. I went down lower (near Trnovac, 600-700 m) – there are a lot of oaks, a lot of flowers and ... again, nothing alive, ordinary. Apparently, it was about 20-30 kilometers south of the land of the respected lampra, but after the first setbacks, it turned around and drove back to the lakes. Here's the ridge:
image: _______. jpg
Then I finally had to move to the sea. With the firm belief that there will be nothing at all. Now the sea is already visible:
image: ______. jpg
I visited Zadar, Sibenik, Trogir, Split and even Dubrovnik. I don't attach pictures of architectural beauty, because apart from a dead bronze tree in the middle of Dubrovnik, I haven't seen anything worthwhile there. The sea is everywhere, pines, cicadas are screaming, it's hot and dry. This is also the sea:
image: ____. jpg
As a result, I settled near Split (Podstrana) and on the second day decided to walk around the neighborhood out of boredom. Gardens, bushes, wastelands, the temperature is over 30... in general, deaf:
picture: _________.jpg
And then, in a small peach grove, I saw five trees where, for some unknown reason, the peaches had been left behind…:
image: _______. jpg
In short, these peaches were eaten by herds of bronzes: the aeruguinosa herd and the cuprea herd (I don't know the subspecies):
image: ____. jpg
So I picked up a few of them:
image: ___. jpg
image: ___. jpg
In addition to them, some medium-sized pinkish bronze was found in the peaches, nutcrackers (few and different), some small barbel, and a herd of capnodis tenebrionis lived on the trunks, in the crowns and on the ground:
picture: ___________.jpg
That's what I used to do in the last few days before I left:
image: ______. jpg
In general, not so bad. I will slowly put the indefinite in the "definition of beetles". Although maybe right now someone-thread that-thread will tell you...
The end. P. S. And yes-there were butterflies to hell)))

Pictured is Carabus violaceus ssp. azurescens
Big blue Carabus caelatus ssp. caelatus ???
and 1exec. Carabus croaticus ssp.

Of the Potocia, I came across only angustata, aeruginosa I did not see more than one.

I went around the Hospic Karlobag road and fished almost all of it, not far from Karlobaga there is one place where you can see and catch about a hundred Rosalia alpina in a day, this time I almost did not catch it, not for long.

"not far from Karlobaga there is one place"
Eh, I would have known earlier (((Now I will not sleep and I will not be able to eat...)

I have my doubts about karabuses. Especially regarding the presence of croaticus. I took decent photos and put them in the "definition of ground beetles"...

It is not necessary to lay out mattresses.
IMHO: The report is at least a story about the trip, i.e.: where, when, and why + the result (even if negative). The report must contain information. And for photographing nature, there is a separate topic.

you shouldn't have done that anyway. the person wanted to share, show how it is in Germany, what crawls, what flies, and not make a mess of the topic, as you decided (well, in my opinion, this was meant in your first post).

According to his "report" it turns out that in Germany everything is rotten. But, IMHO, this is not the case. It all depends on the importer. So, his fellow countryman Lampra puts out cool reports.

To my regret, I didn't see many insects: a few orange yolks, a few satyrs, a large number of different webs. A lot of whiteflies, similar to our cabbage, but a little larger.
I put soil traps on vinegar, almost nothing came across. The main catch was in the evenings under the lanterns. I came across several Pachystus graecus morio, a lot of marble crunches, I identified them as Polyphylla olivieri (since I don't have a determinant or a list of insects from those places, I may be wrong. I would appreciate a more precise definition.)

Nikolai, what are these big black carabuses? Coriaceus? Or who? Didn't define it? I just have the same one from around here...

I was in Croatia last year and found a place in the mountains where interesting plants ( umbrella plants )grew it was the northern slope of Masiva Velebit ( Middle) and I immediately noticed that there were a lot of insects there.
This year I went there a little earlier there was a huge number of butterflies that I have not yet met, the height is about 1700m just where the beech forest ends. All Ground Beetles were caught in this forest by traps (40st. in 5 points ) of barbels, bronzes and gnorimus on flowers except Prinobius myardi and Rosalia.
In other places in these mountains, I have not seen such an abundance.
