BASF: Research Station Entomologist for the Agricultural Research Station in Dinuba, California

The Agricultural Research Station in Dinuba, California has an opening for a Research Station Entomologist effective immediately. The Research Station Entomologist will be responsible for designing and conducting the research and development program for the evaluation of new insecticides under California conditions. This includes:

the testing of new experimental and development compounds in field, greenhouse;
lab trials in a wide variety of agricultural and horticultural crops for the control of economically important plant pests.

The Entomologist will summarize and interpret the results in reports and presentations, and will make suggestions for further development. The Entomologist will work in a team with an assistant and will be supported by the field crew.

Required skills:

Ph.D. or Masters degree in agriculture, horticulture or biology with emphasis on entomology and pest control;
experience with major agricultural and horticultural crops;
experience in trial techniques for insecticide trials under field and greenhouse conditions;
computer skills with basic knowledge of biometrical and statistical methods for trial evaluation.

Assistant Professor of Entomology for The Louisiana State University Agricultural Center

Tenure track position (85% Extension, 15% teaching) in the Department of Entomology, Baton Rouge, LA. State-wide responsibilities include the development and implementation of research based educational and extension programs related to public and animal health, pastures, honey bees and other areas as necessary. Ph.D. in Entomology with the ability to communicate effectively with both adult and youth audiences using written and oral skills.

Applicants must demonstrate the ability to establish extension demonstration and research plots and to analyze and interpret data using statistical techniques. Procurement of extramural support through grants, industry or commodities is expected.
