A friend caught locusts in the vineyards in the vicinity of Sevastopol and, at my request, kept them for himself. After a week of life, she gave birth to him - they had to get rid of the offspring. The very next day, I was able to go to his countryside and take this miracle for myself. For a week and a half, she lived in my terrarium from a jar, where I put various herbs and cereals, and sometimes finely chopped cucumbers. The locusts felt good and calm: they studied the terrarium, ate greenery, and sometimes jumped, although they knocked on the top of the terrarium because of this. This morning, she also looked perfectly healthy and was exploring her new favorite spot - a cedar cone that I had placed for her a couple of days ago as a decoration. Even at five in the morning I jumped, at seven I just sat on a bump. I left on business and returned at twelve o'clock, five hours after leaving the house. However, a strange and sad picture awaited me: the locust was lying on its side near the cone, as if it had fallen from it, hugging a bitten leaf. Terrified for her life, I carefully took her out and began to examine her. First of all, it felt more limp to the touch, as if the chitin had loosened its former tension. Her hind legs, which she uses to jump, did not react at all to the fact that I held her in my hands (usually she twirled them and shook them in readiness to jump). The middle pair of paws began to move, trying to find a foothold, and the front pair of paws tightly hugged that bitten leaf. The tendrils fluttered up and down, for no apparent reason. The reaction to blows is the same: a slight movement of the middle pair of paws. When I tried to take the leaf from her, she hugged it tighter and began to move her mouth apparatus, but did not eat. I also noticed that my eyes have changed color: previously they were completely black and seemed to be aware of their surroundings, but now they are covered with bright stripes along the length of all the eyes and they look matte. Only a small spot on the right eye remained black and glossy. I returned her to the terrarium and gave her fresh cucumbers, and also moistened the walls of the terrarium a little with a pulevizer. Can anyone tell me what happened to my pet, is it stress, is she ready to give birth, or is she already on her way to the next world?..
