Leucoma salicis or Leucoma candida? Explaining. I checked at Synev, L.salicis has ? mark in #36, 37, 40. Whilst L. candida is surely distributed in these regions. Looking for the answer I spotted this recent thread http://molbiol.ru/forums/lofiversion/index.php/t180517-400.htm, opinions provided:
сajarc: "To my mind, Leucoma candida is more often in Primorye south than Leucoma salicis".
chebur: "... they can be distinguished by exterior, when put them on something dark. L. salicis has rarer wing scales and it will be transparent on the dark background. L. candida has denser white layer of wing scales".
V.V. Dubatolov's word, at last: "As for Leucoma salicis, yes, it is in Priamurye and Primorye. We either have it from those places in our museum. I personally collected both Leucoma species in Daursky, Zeisky and Bolshetsekhirsky Nature Reserves. L. salicis flies out earlier, at the end of June, July. L. candida is later, flight period is July—end of August. Males are very well distinguished by genitalia which can be seen even in alive specimens. They also can be good discerned by the color of the antennae scales. I first heard about L. salicis in Primorye south from Chistyakov in the mid 80s".
Thus, both species are distributed in Primorye and Priamurye. L.salicis is illustrated with photos from 36th region. Anyway, #3365 and #3364 might be the very candida (pics taken August 10 and 14)? Is the species on those pics identified right?
