Distribution

Imago Habitus and Differences from alike species

  • Front wings - black velvet back - velvet golden yellow with a black edge. Spurs are not available. [49].
  • Wingspan 100-140 mm. FW (fore - wing) is black, HW (hind - wing) yellow with black markings, including marginal spots along the HW margin, but no internal black dusting on the inner edges of these spots. In f. eumagos (Jordan, 1909), male with an additional black submarginal spot in space 2 and conjoined with marginal spot, in female there is another complete series of submarginal black spots and not conjoined with marginal spots. The other form f. cerberus, male with an additional series submarginal spots and two of them in spaces 2 and 3 conjoined with marginal spots. Female is similar to the male and conjoined in spaces 2, 3 and 4. [144].
  • The front wings are black velvet, the rear wings are golden yellow velvet with a black edge. No spurs. [85].
