Balignina neptunus; Papilio neptunus. [PC81].

Imago Habitus and Differences from alike species

Losaria neptunus (Guerin-Meneville, 1840): wingspan 85-100 mm. Abdomen is yellow at apical half in contrasting with the black basal part. UpF is black, with a broad subbasal white patch and a smaller subapical white patch except all dark veins and dark interneuralstreaks, HW (hind - wing) with a prominent pinkish-red discal band in spaces 1b, 2, 3 and 4. Male has and longer FW (fore - wing) and longer tails than in the female. Males of subsp. manasukkiti differs from the usual neptunus in having white streaks at both sides of dark veins crossing the black oblique band on UpH, UnH red spots usually develop better, spot in space 4 generally longer than that of neptunus. [144].
