Видовая самостоятельность ошибочно не принимается сегодня, и таксон традиционно рассматривается лишь как среднеазиатский подвид тополевого бражника. От считающихся родственными L. populi отличается на 2.35% по COI, что доказывает его видовую самостоятельность. [393].

Distribution

Населяет горы восточной части Средней Азии (Казахстана, Кыргызстана, Узбекистана, Таджикистана). [393].
