Imago Habitus and Differences from alike species
- Wingspan 40-50 mm. Male UP is almost all white except a narrow black border at costa of FW. Female markings are variable, FW usually white or yellowish, black at costal border, broad at apex extending along the termen to tornus, heavily black dusting at base, the inner edge of the border forming more or less right angle at veins 2 and 3, with two to four subappical spots, HW with a broad border. The inner edge of the border strongly crenulated; UN white and unmarked in male, female is variable usually marked with black and yellow. Male of subsp. albinawith a darker costal border on UpF than that ofdarada, white female form of the former bear a narrower FW border than in the latter. Female of subsp. albinain the dsf. (the dark season form), FW has a narrow black border at costa and termen, a prominent black spot in space 3 separated from the border, HW with a series of marginal black spots. [144].
