They changed indeed! Week ago I was driving through Bryansk region and there were loads of http://lepidoptera.pro/taxonomy/8616! Flying in swarms. Did not I even come out to shoot 'em since done it way too much. The opposite, I still can't make a good shot of the blackleg tortoiseshell (Nymphalis polychloros). :(

This butterfly definitely got more sophisticated. It was always rather ordinary thing, even urban. Yet I didn't see it last five years, now I saw it again and in the very those areas where it used to be. Nymphalis genus is actually told by many people to have changed its demeanor. The explicit example could be Nymphalis polychloros that was rather common to meet before as against Nymphalis xanthomelas. Now these two swapped places.

Vasily, a friend of mine works in Moscow city and watches this butterfly every spring. I guess, its total disappearance is kind of the fact quite overrated.

Yesterday I saw it again over here in Zheleznodorozhny town after many years (didn't pick it for a collection nor shot as I had nothing to make a photo). Yet it's still in Moscow region :) Though they said it was already not...
