Habitus and Differences from alike species

  • Papilio dialis doddsi Janet, 1896: wingspan 90-100 mm. UP is black similar to P. protenor but without a white subcostal band on HW; HW with metallic green dusting, the end of vein 3 produced to a short or long tail. Subsp. schanus flies in Northern Myanmar and was recorded from Doi Suthep. However, nobody has found it again in Thailand. Other subspecies in this region, P. dialis dialis a long tail form occurs in Southern China and P. dialis doddsi a broad short tailed form, as illustrated, occurs in Laos and Vietnam. [144].
