Kolegi, can you tell me where mass populations of Aporia have been found in the last three years? We didn't have much of it, but it didn't exist at all, and in the last three years it has even been replaced by P. brassicae, the bastard)

In Odintsovo district, Moscow region, near Zvenigorod. A few years ago, the first butterflies appeared in the clearing, and a year later-a whole hole (there were up to 40-50 of them in the field of view).

Okay, so we're not the only ones) I talked to people from ZIN two years ago, so they also say that there are a lot of people around Peter.. I wonder why...

In 2003, in the very north of the Yaroslavl region, a mass of(!) hawthorn trees in puddles by the roadside. For 100 meters, dozens, and sometimes hundreds of them were sitting at EACH puddle...

I saw the biggest cluster on Earth. In the Caucasus at the border post in the Makhar Gorge. Also in puddles, and also in the mass. But there is an abundance of butterflies there, so this phenomenon is not exceptional for the region.

And we have disappeared! frown.gif I haven't met you in two years........

this is the joke that hawthorns appear abruptly somewhere, and then disappear just as abruptly, and there is no scientific explanation yet, as I read))) Here in Estonia we have them nebylo and the last 3 years-one of the most numerous butterflies became, and in Israel, apparently, they disappeared without a trace.....
I hope someone someday explains this great "aporia phenomenon" umnik.gif

Well, there is an opinion about Israel.About 3-4 years ago,in the north, there were huge clusters of sweet cherries on the plantations. And then the Druze began to carry out the cultivation of plantations, and together with the boyaroshnitsa disappeared and podaliriy...... weep.gif

About the " waves of life "("waves of numbers"), no one razve never read?

03.07.2006 19:17, dabb

nope, I didn't read it, just about the fact that there is no explanation))
and in short, what is it?

03.07.2006 19:37, sealor

dabb, waves of life in short is:
http://cultinfo.ru/fulltext/1/001/008/006/313.htm

In general, the waves of life are not an explanation, it is a phenomenon, and it can be caused by a variety of factors. The question here is what factor affects the population size of aporia, and whether it is the same at all points of the population decline. To find out, it is necessary to observe the development of the butterfly both in the territory where there is a lot of it, and where it was not, that is, reintroduce and observe what/who displaces it. There would be opportunities, you can try wink.gif

04.07.2006 23:19, dabb

The fact of the matter is that there are no opportunities.....While I can say that the number of hawthorns throughout Estonia is not the same, somewhere more, somewhere less.... and somewhere probably not at all! But taking the entire territory of the country under surveillance is not realistic.....At the moment, aporia is not being forced out, but it is successfully displacing everyone))) And how this is possible-it is not clear how much hawthorn grew, so much is growing, maybe the main enemies are extinct-but again, we need to figure out who could be the main enemy....

I would not say that the population in Estonia is so uneven. It is consistently abundant in suitable biotopes.
