It is unlikely that such a complex structure of scales turned out just like that. After all, in flight from such scales there are no advantages. So I wonder why they sparkle-do they make themselves more visible? The version that in order for the female to see the male better is unlikely with their charm. But why do they shine?

I think so too, but for some reason only males shine? So the version is quite real.

Rather, females do not shine because they lead a secretive lifestyle. Their task to remain invisible is more important for the offspring.

Are males territorial? Are they guarding their territory?

usually, the overflow tubes return to their place.
in general, it is difficult for me to guess what the overflow is for ^_^
My guess is water. Perelivnitsy like to sit by the water, along the banks of lakes, rivers, puddles. Perhaps they imitate water with their overflow, thereby confusing their enemies.. With their wings closed, they look like dirt and twigs that they like to sit on..
