So, it's time to sum up the first decade of March. It turned out to be quite warm and sunny, the temperature at the daily maximum reached +12 degrees, which led to the release from hibernation of a large number of various insects and other arthropods. Butterflies fluttered. Mass ballooning of spiders of various younger ages was observed. The nests of most ant species were opened, and the mating season for cicadas, soldier beetles, some flies, chironomids, and others began. The first bees and wasps glowed briefly. Finally, kravchiki and field horses began to come to the surface of the earth. Unfortunately, since the beginning of the second decade of the month, the weather has deteriorated strongly, and has not improved to date.

These flying spiders are a bit terrifying. When crawling, there is no fear, but when flying over our heads, it's different.

So the first month of spring is over. Its continuation was not as pleasant as the beginning. The second decade was marked by cloudy and rainy weather, only a couple of days were sunny, and then not completely. In the third decade, about half of the days were sunny, but most of them were spoiled by strong wind and cold. In general, the temperature at the end of March was very unstable, fluctuating from +17 to -1 and back completely chaotic and unpredictable. As a result, at the moment there is a significant lag in the phenology of many species from the norm. Some insects flew for just a day or two and hid again, others are active only in the afternoon hours in secluded places protected from the wind. But there are also those who do not mind any weather, for example, chironomids. Most of the primroses were pollinated by beetles, bedbugs, ants and flies, without waiting for bees, although there were exceptions to the dream.

So the second month of spring has passed, and it's time to take stock of it. For most of the month, the weather remained as changeable and uncertain as at the end of March. Today the sun is shining, tomorrow-a thunderstorm with hail, the day after tomorrow - wet snow, etc. At the same time, in the first half of the month there was a strong shortage of precipitation, as a result of which steppe fires broke out en masse, in the second half it rained like a bucket. And only in the last days, the real spring came abruptly, passing into summer, which was accompanied by an outbreak of insect activity. In general, despite meteorological excesses and small delays in the phenology of the entomofauna, all those insects that were supposed to be seen in April were seen (and some were also photographed).
