Dragonflies and Lake Baikal

I read in B. F. Belyshev's Guide to Siberian dragonflies by imaginal and larval phases, 1983, that dragonfly larvae do not develop in Lake Baikal and are absent.

To what extent is this true and, if so, what is the reason for it? umnik.gif

Respond. Because they have nothing to eat there. There are no mosquito larvae, mayflies and other main food of dragonfly larvae... The water is too clean. Cold, too. Too little biomaterial for breeding dragonfly food.

Why go to Lake Baikal for dragonfly larvaesmile.gif) There are many of them in the reservoirs of the Moscow region.
