I would even say from the genus of Conops smile.gif

Strongly resembles Physocephala rufipes (family Conopidae, naturally).
In the genus Conops, the waist is usually not so narrow.

Then two more questions about diptera (if I'm not mistaken again with the belonging of these insects to the right order)

This mosquito smile.gifis the first of the family Tipulidae, Tipula most likely, the second, nasty and blood-sucking, from the family Culicidae, Culex most likely.

These are also murmurs. Both are from the genus Volucella. The first is V. inasis (the fly is quite rare in our latitudes), the second is V. pellucens (it is common everywhere in the European part). The larvae develop in the nests of bumblebees and social wasps.

In front of the photo, Eristalis is a babbler from the genus Helophilus. It is easily distinguished from other genera by the mid-spine with longitudinal stripes. Most likely H. pendulus.

1.Sphaerophoria
2.Xylota
3.Eristalis but not E. arbustorum.....
E. arbustorum you have a picture, there the flies have a mid-back completely naked, and here it is pubescent. But in general, the genus Eristalis is quite difficult to determine, it is not always possible from the photo.

Thank you, Alexey!
What kind of fly is this? It seems to me that it is also made of murmurs. But it does not look like Eristalis arbustorum - since (in my opinion) it has a more grayish color. Although its back is pubescent.. I don't even know...
But then who is she?
Please tell me!

I would call this species Eristalis abusivus...
But once again I will make a reservation: when determining such difficult births from photos, mistakes are possible and most likely will be made.

Dear Svetlana,

that wonderful blue dragonfly, which is "coded" on your site under the number 4-crw_5746 and named Enallagma cyathigerum, actually belongs to the genus Coenagrion (most likely C. puella).

Hello gentlemen entomologists!
I have such a question about golden eyes. Most often we have the usual green golden eyes. But in March, I came across only yellow-brown (photo1). And last year I photographed a bluish golden-eyed girl-photo 2. Are these all different kinds?

18.04.2007 18:57, andr_mih

the usual green golden-eyes and yellow-brown (wintering) are most likely one species, and the bluish ones are another.

Thank you andr_mih!
Can anyone tell you the name of the species?

The last photo shows a horsefly of the genus Tabanus

Well, it is clear that photo 3 is a long-legged mosquito of the genus Tipula, 4 and 7 are some sirfids (7 is like the genus Eristalis), and photo 8 is a fly-tachinidae.
But then (in the sense of before the view)....???

24.04.2007 7:21, Сергей-Д

And for the definition of the genus thank you, it will be like a photo to call.

tahina (photo 8) resembles representatives of the genus Platychira. But the Tachinidae family is huge, we need to check and check.
