Does anyone know where to find a resource on the Internet so that you can get(by default or by request to the database) a catalog of all known taxa with an indication of the number of known species, genera, families, etc.? Where do these mysterious numbers that wander from book to book come from? Where is this magical source of information? Do not offer manual selection, meaning the full list.

there is a book with probably the most accurate and up-to-date data on insects:

Insect biodiversity : science and society / edited by Robert G. Foottit and Peter H. Adler.
ISBN 978-1-4051-5142-9 (hardcover : alk. paper)

How do I make a request in it? confused.gif
I would like such a list (with quantities) in electronic form (and not in the form of a scan) or in the form of a web resource.

there are tables with basic amounts. insect taxa and regions. I don't know a better resource (and I doubt that there is one).
