Where to buy ethyl acetate?

Community and ForumEntomological collectionsWhere to buy ethyl acetate?

Subject. Perhaps someone knows where to buy this deadly liquid? Just don't send a lot of stuff to construction sites:)

well, why immediately go to the construction smile.gifsite in any institute where there is a chemical laboratory or factory (any enterprise that deals with chemicals) and there you will be very happy to pour half a liter, if you starve beetles, then wink.gifI have been using this for many years. good luck

I prefer chloroform. I bought it once for 10 years in advance.

Thanks for the info! Can't you buy it in a store? And then I somehow did not go to institutes and factories, and the old stocks ran out...smile.gif

It is enough to search in the catalogs of companies that sell chemical reagents. In Nizhny Novgorod, there are at least 3 such companies, and in Moscow, I think, no less.

27.03.2006 15:06, Nilson

In St. Petersburg, there is definitely an office selling reagents - on Petrogradka near the brain institute, or something. True, it is difficult to find such storage systems-there is a pass system everywhere. I bought for myself in Germanni through a special office.

27.03.2006 15:24, Nilson

But I can't find the mothballs. I used to take it at the university at the Department of Chemistry, but now I've already taken it all from them

"Ekros", if I'm not mistaken, is called.

27.03.2006 21:41, Frantic

Oh, I have a friend in St. Petersburg. Also engaged in animal husbandry:) Can you tell me the exact address of Ekros ? I'll ask you to buy it...

27.03.2006 23:51, RippeR

I recently looked into your topic and realized that I also need ethyl acetate. I opened the Broker's website (there are supposedly all ads in Moldova), entered ethyl acetate in the search, so he gave me two links, now I'll take a liter for ~45 rubles.. So type where possible ethyl acetate, or ethyl acetate St. Petersburg or ethyl acetate Moscow, etc., you will be provided with everything..

In general, ethyl acetate can be purchased from friends that control industrial and household chemicals - the Internet is full of links to warehouses and so on. But the volumes are a little scary - where do I need a hundred liters of acetate?
And I'll find out about the address of Ekros (or whatever it's called) today.

According to my data, the office is called VECTON. I admit I wasn't there myself. Located on Petrogradka Street. You need to go along Kamennoostrovsky from Petrogradskaya metro station in the direction of Chernaya Rechka metro station along Kamennoostrovsky Prospekt. When the houses run out and the kindergarten begins, turn to the building with the inscription IEM (Institute of Experimental Medicine), at the checkpoint say that there is a great desire to buy reagents in VECTON for cash. Thank you all so much for your help! I hope ethyl acetate will buy in:) By the way, if there is information on mothballs, I will also be very grateful:) Finding it now is also a complete problem. And just a friend from St. Petersburg (or rather, his collections) were badly damaged this winter by a leather eater.

This is off, this is not good wink.gifAbout protecting collections - another topic!

Nevertheless, a small remark: naphthalene is the same insecticide as validol is a medicine. For humans, it is much more dangerous than for a leatherworm.

It may be too late, but still.
This Acet is sold by DiaM and Laboratory equipment (at the latter. a small shop on 3rd Parkovaya Street, just a stone's throw from the metro station.Izmailovskaya Street)

They sell everything there, including to individuals (oddly enough). I don't remember the address, but there is the first car from the center nearby, go to the 3rd park, on the right side (if you stand with your back to the metro), in 300 meters there will be a brick five-story building. On the first floor-- - - the desired company. (there you will first pass a pharmacy, then a second-hand store, then some honey.a consultation, and then your office).

I tried to make ethyl acetate today (I used to do chemistry)- it turned out. smile.gif First, you need to prepare a saturated solution of table salt: we dissolve the table salt in hot water until it stops dissolving, then cool it to room temperature. Mix ethyl alcohol (TROY) 80% and acetic acid (70%) in equal proportions at this concentration (it is better if there is a little more alcohol), add a little sulfuric acid (concentrated), boil it all for 5 minutes ( ethyl acetate is formed in the solution). Sulfuric acid is added as a catalyst in very small doses. The experiment was carried out in a test tube, where only two drops of sulfuric acid were added. A solution of table salt should be as much as a mixture of alcohol, vinegar and sulfuric acid. We add a solution of table salt to what was boiled - as a result, ethyl acetate is forced up. This is clearly visible in traffic. The layers are clearly separated by a thin film. The ethyl acetate must then be carefully drained. If someone is not afraid to take a risk and really needs this dirty trick-keep in mind that it is better to conduct experiments in a spacesuit in an open field. wink.gif

In entomological shop No. 1 in Moscow, they sell ethyl acetate quite cheaply. You just need to have a container, otherwise they don't have one...

Extraction of ethyl acetate by the method of Oleg Berlov :-).

There is a supplement for the purchase of ethyl acetate. I got it a couple of years ago in this way-I wrote ads in all Irkutsk newspapers for free ads (such as "From hand to hand") with the following content:
I EXCHANGE A BOTTLE OF VODKA FOR A BOTTLE OF ETHYL ACETATE. TEL. xx-xx-xx.
Since then, I still have a liter and a half of ethyl acetate left.
One lab assistant from the Institute of Organic Chemistry asked for a box of chocolates instead of vodka!

Here, I think it couldn't be easier... The ad is written in 10 minutes. So no hemorrhoids!

With the purchase of ethyl acetate can be VERY BIG problems because the substance belongs to the class of narcotic substances. Instead of it, I can recommend "nail polish remover" without acetone is sold in any cosmetic stall, and soars not much worse than pure acetat

That's not so. Ethyl acetate does not belong to either narcotic or potent substances, and is not even considered their precursor. It is freely sold in any store that sells chemical reagents, as well as in any chemical online store, and not so expensive. I take it myself from the chemical store without any problems. Maybe you were referring to diethyl ether? Here it is, there is no free sale, although if there is a need for it, then it can be obtained in a simple way from some auto chemicals smile.gif

"Ethyl acetate is even added to caramel for fragrance.

So maybe it's also nice for insects to die and they deliberately come to us to finish sweetly? lol.gif

Still, it is better to prick with ammonia, and not to search headlong for ethyl acetate. And the quality of the copy will be better.

And the small change?

06.12.2007 23:31, Aleksey Adamov

And how is acetone and nail polish remover evaluated (as some of our entomologists say: kill with a "caress")?

Well, of course, except for small things. Although you can also press down some (butterflies) with your fingers...

"Still, it is better to inject ammonia, and not to search headlong for ethyl acetate. And the quality of the copy will be better."

In Primorye, for example, when there is a lot of material, I first immobilize butterflies in a stain with ethyl acetate, and then I must finish them with ammonia. I never catch them with my hands. With the exception of very large and fat ones, all at once in the stain (an elementary action using the lid from the stain and the stain itself). If the butterfly is caught with a net, then the actions are similar-immediately in the stain. The only "BUT": if there are complaints about the quality-first make sure visually that you really need a butterfly.

As far as I know, ethyl acetate is used by substance abusers for inhalation use. Another option for a possible purchase: research of households. stores that sell solvents (acetone, 648, etc.), but I've never been able to find it there. But in the same stores you can buy turpentine, which is used to attract xylophilic insects (according to Korotnev).
As for diethyl ether (CH3-O-CH3), this is not an option at all: 1) it is stale and 2) its boiling point = 42.2 ° C, and on a hot summer day the temperature in the sun can reach 50 ° C

This is the first time I've heard it. We sell freely, only packing 10L to put it mildly, not very convenient wink.gif

Glue "Moment", as you know, is also used for inhalation use, but this does not prevent its free sale in hardware stores. Gasoline, again... You can sniff anything, even dichlorvos.
But officially, ethyl acetate does not apply to strong and narcotic drugs (unlike chloroform and diethyl ether)

Stop harassing substance abusers unnecessarily. Ethyl acetate is not a drug, it is sold freely in stores as a solvent in technical quality and as a reagent for analytical laboratories as a BDA.
I buy at the Reactiv store in St. Petersburg, on Oktyabrskaya Embankment, 44. Store phone number 8(812)-588-10-96. There it is packed in 1l for 168 rubles (BDA) and in 10-liter cans for 714 rubles (technical). Price as of 10.12.2007

You decide plz, why do you need ethyl acetate. If you want to kill insects, then see my post above. And if you sniff, then we can find you a more effective remedy.

I called the Moscow number. In Moscow, it is in this organization, unfortunately, it is sold only in bulk and by bank transfer.
