as they say " Figase!"
No, you shouldn't be lazy with mattresses.. the technology is simple to prelea, it takes little time to make a lot of mattresses.. I got a whole box full of them in a couple of days.. ~ 25 mattresses..
The technology is this-an ordinary newspaper, the length is measured-under the length of the box.. then the width-under the width of the box, it turns out the length of the mattress is 2 width of the box + about 5 cm.. in general, it is not convenient to explain, and this is a drawing:

not... I know how to do them) just if you do it yourself as I do - that is, a thick cardboard lining-tracing paper on top and two rolls of cotton wool between 10-12 rubles per mattress takes + time-and they have the same mattresses + well-made and 25-I'm satisfied with this output)

and why make mattresses out of so many complicated structures?? After all, the main characteristics of the mattress are to absorb moisture, not to damage insects. These characteristics most often correspond to ordinary newspapers (in our time). Moreover, the design, as you can see, allows you not to make particularly complex movements and mattresses fit more in the box.
I suggest you take a small box and try it on your own experience. Success!

16.07.2007 17:47, Sparrow

Ripper for me, an important characteristic is the strength of insects on the mattress to damage because I rarely straighten them, that is, a full cardboard bottom under cotton wool is needed) and to see what insects lie on the mattress-transparent tracing paper on top. Convenient)

To do something, mattresses of different thickness, on the forum to implement then?
20 rubles each, eh?

I'm in oyuha.

On the other hand, the seller clearly understands the problem of the entomologist-collector - many are too lazy to cut and fold mattresses.

16.07.2007 22:45, RippeR

Damn, this makar and I'm happy poskladyvayu mastras.. 20, after the fifth price 19 lol.gif

By the way, you can make the same mattresses, but from the bottom, under the cotton wool in the mattress, put cardboard-the bottom will be strong..

16.07.2007 22:46, Pavel Morozov

Thank you for offtop,
do you make them out of whatman? I'm from Whatman.

I just switch beetles with Moscow from time to time, so the transportation is at my expense wink.gif

I make my branded mattresses according to the customer's wishes - some from whatman, some from newspaper, some from thick cardboard.. I also use other materials.

Serious Moldovan business....

Try to make mattresses from wallpaper, the choice is wide (in different densities) you can buy from leftovers, when the store has 1-2 rolls left, they give 10-15 rubles per roll. You know how many mattresses can be made from a roll. Three years of testing - cheap and solid. And on the other hand, if there was an opportunity - I would buy it, there is always not enough time, before the trip you start frantically cutting paper and cotton wool, an emergency...

17.07.2007 14:47, RippeR

I exchange mattresses for beetles cool.gif
In my opinion, from the newspaper-the best! The mattress should not be tight, the box should be tight!

18.07.2007 15:54, omar

Good! Will the Colorado ones go? All the material is labelled. cool.gif

Sergeyich has cool wallpaper mattresses, I've seen them myself. I also bought myself a roll of wallpaper... By the way, I don't put cotton wool in mattresses, but batting. I don't really like cotton wool.

18.07.2007 19:27, RippeR

Hm.. we need to try this batting.. I wonder where to get it.

19.07.2007 1:19, Dinusik

I buy batting from a fabric store. There is a very nice white color in a fine stitch.

Please enlighten me, pzhalsta, Batting is cotton wool made of viscose?

Batting is simply quilted cotton. The origin of the fiber is not important.

Only synthetics should not be taken smile.gif

It doesn't matter in the sense of the material name smile.gif

insects slide off synthetic wool.

20.07.2007 3:08, Dinusik

And not just the sweat that slips off. If the legs get entangled in the fibers (synthetics have a stronger and longer fiber), there is a high probability of spoiling the insect.

So that's who it turns out is slowing down the presidential program lol.gif lol.gif lol.gif

Plain old cotton wool is the best... and the beetle is tight and does not break. You can manipulate it carefully even with dry material.
I HATE PACKAGING!!!! mad.gif

Under the mattress I use standard boxes of tracing paper for printers. Box size 210x297x15 mm. It is made of thick cardboard covered with coated paper. I use ordinary medical cotton wool. Cotton wool is glued with small and rare drops of PVA to the base of thick paper, which in turn is placed in the base of the box. On top of the fees I cover with a sheet of tracing paper from this box. The boxes are checked by time and conditions of the expeditions. I recommend. wink.gif

I will come to Moscow-I will show my mattresses smile.gifI love when everything is neatly folded on them smile.gifSo it is more aesthetically pleasing - when you open them, your eyes are happy, even if nothing special lies on them smile.gif

I want to try batting all the time, but so far I haven't come across it in stores, and I haven't purposefully looked for it, now everyone prefers synthetics for insulation. By the way, how is it with hygroscopicity?

Just like cotton wool.

25.07.2007 9:16, Vadim Yakubovich

Just like cotton wool.

The question is not in vain asked, the fact is that I make mattresses from hygroscopic cotton wool, sometimes even sterile tongue.gif. And batting is usually made of gray cotton wool, when it is new, then, in my opinion, it gets wet badly. Or has the quality of batting changed since Soviet times? I've only ever held one of my mother's owls in my hands. inventory levels.

25.07.2007 11:10, Dinusik

Well, if from a sterile one, then there is no market. Since I'm not a medic, buying it is expensive for me. I usually wash and dry the material, then you don't need to worry about the hygroscopicity of batting tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

25.07.2007 12:08, Vadim Yakubovich

No, about sterile, this is, of course, a redneck, but about hygroscopicity this is important, especially when the material from traps can not be dried much in the field, there are many reasons for this, just the traps were raked out, and go ahead for flying dragons. It's a pity when it gets moldy, especially when it rains.

25.07.2007 12:18, omar

I don't see any rednecks in sterile cotton wool. From mold, you can moisten this very sterile cotton wool with alcohol.

25.07.2007 12:25, Vadim Yakubovich

Yes, the thing is, sterile cotton wool is the most expensive, no more, it's a pity sometimes to spend on mattresses. Alcohol from mold will not help much, especially since cotton wool is sterile, you need to process insects. Well, when cotton wool absorbs water as it dries, the evaporation area increases. By the way, and if the batting is degreased by washing it in washing powder, you should try it.

25.07.2007 12:28, omar

Alcohol from mold helps especially. Don't talk about what you don't know.
