I'M GOING HUNTING FOR THE WEEKEND,WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND???
You are going alone, the first time you need at least one hunter to take, or rather the opposite-to impose on the hunter.

The area is Steppe, the river bank is richly overgrown with Willow, wild rose and other shrubs. "There are hares, foxes, and wild game in this area. but no, there are also fish in the lakes, if you go spearfishing.

What should I take with me? - all means for autonomous survival in the steppe + hunting equipment + a set of men.

What are the fishing methods? - depending on who you will catch and what you already have, dynamite and an electric rod are not allowed, AKM and grenades are also not allowed, the "laser trans-neutron portable quasi-generator" has not yet been invented.

Who can I find during the day and where? - look for game and hares in the grass. Fish in the water.

Who at night? "the same ones you use during the day, but with a flashlight."

How do I search? "well, how's that?" visually, by ear. If you can smell it.

nipanyatna....... confused.gif
is this flood about hunting or a question about catching insects...?
if it's the 1st one, then Nikanor suggested it correctly, but both of them made a mistake in the subforum smile.gif

I also want to hold a jerboa and a bat in my hands, how to catch it?any tips?(although this is not relevant)..Thank you all for participating!!!!

Let someone answer - is there ever a" hunt " for insects?

26.06.2008 1:22, Fornax13

It happens! And what else!!! The three of us drove one bug (3 millimeters) for twenty minutes! And he kicks, infection, jumps, hides, then jumps again smile.gif)) Ppc, in short.. Bug hunting is not an easy task... You need a skill here... wink.gif

Bats are caught in nets - two sticks of a meter and a half each, with a net between them. And run after them with this damn thing.. An exciting activity.. smile.gif Well, if you're lucky, you can picksmile.gif out jerboa from under the bark, but I haven't seen them, although we have them.

Visit the entomology section more often.. And not so crazywink.gif, you would know in what places beetles are hunted, especially ontophages.. Yes, we call it not only leisure, but also entertainment lol.gif

Raptor:
what groups are you interested in? Butterflies, beetles, dragonflies, or everything in a row?
If the first - on flowers, in the field, near the water, on the ground, etc. - the unit is a net and bags where to put butterflies (they need to be gently pressed down on the chest and they will die, it is not necessary to starve, the main thing is that the intestines do not get out)
if the latter, then everywhere-flowers, bark, leaves, branches, earth, stems, under stones, etc. The unit is a stain with ethyl acetate or cones of boxes that are put in the freezer on arrival and everything will die.

Insects are not defenseless - they can bite, run away. fly away. disguise, hide, etc. Pity is a weakness, it must be fought. And do not feel anything about it - they do not feel, and you do not indulge!

Bats fly over the water at dusk and the first hours in the dark, catching, as Fornax13 correctly said, with nets on sticks. But do you need it? Jerboa are tracked to their burrows, then they are flooded with a large amount of water, and when they come out, they break their back or break their neck, then they are washed, skinned and washed again, then they are fried or boiled, but there is a danger of catching distemper. Except for food, just tormenting jerboa by pouring them with water is not worth it.. They are active mainly at night, but it is unlikely that you will be able to keep up with them, in theory they are fast and do not sit far from the burrows, so they quickly dive.
In general, catch better insects wink.gif

Where do mice rest in the steppe during the day?But I won't get away from the main topic.Dzanat, why beer or vinegar? Not familiar at all with baits, how to cook, where to put and so on?I want to collect more big and thick caterpillars!are there any effective search methods? How do you do it yourself???

Of the butterflies, I want a Small Saturnia and rare hawkmoth more.

beer or vinegar, etc. + glasses - this is for soil traps, for beetles... as a rule. And if you need butterflies, and even before after 3 pcs. fire water eek.gifand shish kebab, then most likely you will not need (...if only glasses...)

26.06.2008 18:00, RippeR

little Saturnia was already leaving. If it's even there. Butterflies fly to the light, preferably Drl, Drv, or fluorescent. If there is no such thing, then the usual one. The caterpillars sit on plants. For efficient fishing you need to know who is sitting on which plants etc

26.06.2008 19:13, Raptor

Thank you,but I'm innocent that assistants need this kind of incentive.I have a copy of Saturnia in my collection at the city museum.and so vsnovnom with caterpillars had to deal.

26.06.2008 19:20, Raptor

Who to look for on what is not a problem. But here is a bedstraw on the steppe shaft and the caterpillar on it figs will find.Of course, it is easier to search separately growing willow on the eye.I recently found out who the linden hawk moth is.And I'm not able to identify it in the non-water book until I've dug it up on the Internet.

Why not? For example, ant "eggs" in butter with salt - very much nothing ))) I recommend it! ))) That's just stressful to collect... wink.gif Or there, larvae / pupae of polistov or something similar )))

I remember a very respected colleague telling me how the imperialists go fishing at night... On jeeps, n varieties of wine, n varieties of cheese... He was the only one (according to him) who stood at the screen until morning.

In my experience of daily fees-the presence of delicious food and fire water is simply necessary, especially in the morning of a sleepless night.

But usually in the morning this does not remain - that's when
the shooting at the game begins with hunger.... lol.gif

27.06.2008 22:05, Fornax13

First, you need to find a place where ants are specially "protected" - that is, where there are several anthills for every 10 square meters. m smile.gif
Take an entomological sieve, punch through anthills on it until you get tired (usually very quickly gets boredsmile.gif), QUICKLY select cocoons (and along the way myrmecophiles), and then QUICKLY leave the scene of the crime ))
The collected cocoons are thoroughly washed with running water, put on a preheated frying pan (lid from the boiler) with sunflower oil, cook until golden brown. Salt to taste. In general, the taste is not bad, but they are very wrinkled, so it turns out less smile.gif

This is good when there is a device for shooting at game... And so you have to chase grasshoppers with a sore head... lol.gif

Why chase after them - a bunch of mosquitoes attack from the fumes -
here is a steak, with blood. wink.gif

It's too easy - you need to put the dope left over by morning smile.gifsomewhere, and you'll have to sit for a long time - wait for mosquitoes when the steppe is cold around...

Here is such a beauty had to be left at large.Thank you all so much for your attention. The trip took place, but the fault was not the fire water(most of which is now idly stored in the refrigerator), but the unpredictable nature. It had been drizzling for two days.of course, everyone knew the weather forecast, but when there will be another opportunity is unknown,we decided to use this one.I have a couple of questions about beetles and butterflies.I ask for the definition of the type in the appropriate section of the forum....
