Ornithoptera priamus aruana aberration?

Community and ForumEntomological collectionsOrnithoptera priamus aruana aberration?

Colleagues, I ask for your help and advice.

There is an opportunity to buy an interesting butterfly, it is interesting for a number of reasons.

It is not sold by an entomologist (unfortunately), according to him, it is already 30-40 years old at least, according to the tag it is ORNITHOPTERA priamus aruana, but this subspecies has a green wing color, and not such a sea-green color.

I'm at a loss to guess what it is-aberration? and is it worth taking it for a collection?

It looks like a cross between O. priamus poseidon and priamus urvillianus. Most likely the result of crossing subspecies (almost certainly artificial) In PNG, breeding farms – isn't that where the "geographical" label comes from? In general, ssp. aruana is an endemic subspecies of Aru isl – - it is unlikely to reach PNG itself, it is too far away. In any case, take it, an interesting form.
