The beetles were covered in fat

Community and ForumEntomological collectionsThe beetles were covered in fat

Just a disaster. After a year of storage, almost all beetles (small Sarabidae) were covered with fat (in the form of thick drops, film and puddles in irregularities). The beetles are glued under the side with entomological glue on a plastic corner. Are they really washed, so as not to break or remount?

Submerge it in gasoline, unless it dissolves the glue, otherwise you'll have to re-glue it, and I don't think you'll have to re-spread it. Or fiddling with cotton buds.

I'm afraid sticks are not an option - I'll break them, there are a lot of beetles, and you need to clean them from all sides. I'll try pure gasoline for electronics.
And in alcohol then is it worth it or not?

Well-suited gasoline for Zippo lighters.

clean Galosha gasoline or universal degreaser is well suited, I use both.

Just let me remind you just in case-a plastic corner to start on the reaction to the fat solvent check =) suddenly corrodes or changes color.

An analog of this topic: http://molbiol.ru/forums/index.php?showtopic=408356
And the best way to get rid of fat is Galosha gasoline, both in price and composition. Stop playing tricks with all sorts of "zippos": only in money you will lose wink.gif

And if the already straightened beetle on a pin in gasoline can withstand the paws-the whiskers will not go???

Horses after staining (EtAc) darken, especially noticeable on light spots - is it fat or what? Maybe I don't know something?..

Just need to experiment how much they keep in gasoline. A day, two, three, here I have a cocker fattened, but in three days in gasoline washed off and became like new!)

I cleaned horses (beetles) with gasoline, kept them in gasoline for three days, the result is very good, everything was cleaned, everything is normal.!

Cleaned Ktyrei (Satanas gigas), kept 2-3 days, cleared of fat completely!

Often 80-85% of horses grow fat, white spots become greasy and darken, you need to keep in Gasoline (clean , for example, Galoshes or others) for 3 days, and you can do 4.

Only after they are taken out of the gasoline, do not move their paws, otherwise they will break, the beetles will still be dry.

thank you all for your answers. I'll try again. I bought a lot of butterflies in gasoline, I haven't tried beetles yet
