Length 10-18 mm. Its distribution area is North Africa, Turkey, Iran, Crimea, south-east of the European part of Russia, Lower Volga region, Caucasus and Transcaucasia, Central Asia, Kazakhstan. It keeps in a grassy cover, preferring quinoa and wormwood. Biology is not studied.
The picture was taken in the Astrakhan region.

It lives all over the southern steppe zone of Ukraine, is quite rare (listed in the Red Book of Ukraine). The larva develops in the root neck and below, in the roots of wormwood, forming galls.
