user posted imageGreen carrion fly (Lucilia caesar). C. Linnaeus said that " three flies can destroy the corpse of a horse with the same speed as a lion." Somewhat exaggerated, but true: after a few days, the corpse begins to swarm with the larvae of these flies. Larvae quickly dilute the tissues of the corpse and contribute to its further destruction and drying out.
The picture was taken in the Astrakhan region.

How lovely!
As if alive!

- It is interesting - that its brilliant coloration differs in different individuals on our CMS...
- why?
- What does it depend on?
- Does this have anything to do with sexual diligence??
- What is the situation with this in other regions?
- Can we talk about subspecies?

I wanted to buy a dress of this color the other day. Today, for some reason, I changed my mind... I don't want very similar associations lol.gif

Why associate this color with a fly? You can compare it with a beautiful bronze for example.

Most non-entomologists I know don't know who bronzies are, but everyone knows what a garbage fly looks like! lol.gif

- Dinulya, - aren't you afraid that dipterologists will stone you?
"Although of course - if you don't have a dress on at all-they won't do it lol.gif

Duc, who knows these dipterologists, what they have in mind? shuffle.gif I usually most often go without a dress, in jeans for example lol.gif

I'm not sure if it's caesar, but I decided to "fill in". Photo taken 35 km west of Alma-Ata, SE Kazakhstan, Nov.

I speak from memory, but if I'm not confused , then it doesn't seem to be caesar. I remember that caesar has only two pairs of setae (acrostic setae) on the mid-spine in the center. And here, obviously, three.
Hurray! I got to the book. Everything is right. It would be nice to spin this fly, of course, but it feels like Lucilia sericata

I'm certainly not a professional, but an amateur. But at least partially a dipterologist. I believe you - dipterologists are nice, kind and harmless people.

And from me, a picture of a cute fly smile.gifseems to be similar to the previous photos, but I'm not sure if it's the same view. Maybe one of the nice and kind dipterologists will tell you shuffle.gif

This is not Lucilia caesar. Lucilia caesar has two ac setae on the midspine behind the transverse suture. And there are three in the photo.
If exactly before the view, then it would be good to take a few more photos.
And it would be better, of course, to turn the copy in your hands...

But above, in the photo Dinusik just two ac

There are several photos, but the angle is the same, but the copy itself flew away a long time ago smile.gif

But the genus Lucilia?
