picture: P6104032_s.JPGA beetle in the family Cleridae. It is often found on flowers or tree bark. They look very much like ants from afar.
Mottled beetles are medium-sized beetles with a large head and 11-segmented saw-toothed antennae. Mottled birds are bright in color, with multi-colored transverse stripes on the elytra, and the body is covered with hairs. Larvae predate under the bark, develop at the expense of locust pods or in the nests of bees and wasps, less often they live on carrion. The beetles themselves are also predatory, attacking adult bark beetles.
