On the way home, there was a cloud of moths on the bridge over the Dema River. Like snow! In the morning, everything was covered with them in a solid carpet.
Please explain who they are and what they did?

These are probably mayflies. Adult insects of this aquatic order have a very short life span. They swarmed, mated, then the females laid eggs and all died quickly afterwards. They were attracted not so much by the road as by the light of the lanterns and their reflection in the water.

It doesn't look like a mayfly. They are all white.
