I suggest you start a page about horses.
There are 8 species found in the Amur region:
1. Cylindera (Cylindera) gracilis Pallas, 1775
2. Cylindera (Eugrapha) elisae Motschulsky, 1859
3. Cylindera (Chaetodera) laetescripta Motschulsky, 1860
4. Cicindela (Cicindela) coerulea nitida Lichtenstein, 1796
5. Cicindela (Cicindela) restricta Fischer von Waldheim, 1825
6. Cicindela (Cicindela) transbaicalica Motschulsky, 1844
7. Cicindela (Cicindela) sahalinensis A. Morawitz, 1862
8. Cicindela (Cicindela) gemmata Faldermann, 1835

Cylindera (Cylindera) gracilis Pallas, 1775
Distribution. Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Northeastern and Eastern China, Japan, and the Korean Peninsula. Russia: south of the European part, south of Siberia, Caucasus, Amur region, Khabarovsk Krai, Primorsky Krai.
This species is widespread in the southern regions of the region on dry and xerophytic meadows, in oak-lespedetsev woodlands and on the sides of country roads. Common.

Cicindela (Cicindela) coerulea nitida Lichtenstein, 1796
Distribution: Korean Peninsula (except in the south), Northeastern and Eastern China (up to Shandong in the south), Mongolia. Russia: Southern Siberia, Yakutia, Amur Region, Khabarovsk Krai, Primorsky Krai.
It lives on sandy and rocky soils in forests, as well as on sandy riverbanks. It feeds on ants of the genus Mermica. In the Amur region, it is found almost everywhere. Common.

Cicindela (Cicindela) restricta Fischer von Waldheim, 1825
Distribution: Northeast China, Northern Mongolia.
In Russia: in the taiga zone from the European part to the Far East
, it lives along river banks on sandy soils and on the islands of the Zeya River. It is found together with Cicindela transbaikalica. Not numerous.

Cicindela (Cicindela) sahalinensis A. Morawitz, 1862
Distribution: Japan (Hokkaido, Honshu Islands), Korean Peninsula, China. Russia: south of the Amur Region, south of the Khabarovsk Territory, Primorsky Krai, Sakhalin Island, Maneron Island, Southern Kuril Islands (Iturup, Kunashir, Shikotan)
In the Amur region, it is found in the south-eastern part on dense soils in the zone of broad-leaved and mixed forests. They feed on small insects and spiders. Not numerous.

And where in the European part of Russia can you collect C. restricta?

09.03.2007 17:55, Dinusik

Shilenkov in the distribution of this species indicates North-Eastern Europe and the north of Western Siberia. For Yakobson, it is indicated for the Arkhangelsk province (Pechera). That's all I've found so far in Europe.

restricta is very rare here. Moreover, if females can be distinguished from transbaikalia by the absence of a black spot at the root of the elytra, then how to distinguish males, I still do not know... By the way, the trans-Baikal biotopes - riverine sandbanks - what kind of species occupies them in the European part? Mezhnyak, which is S. hybryda?

And another remark. There is a noticeable division in biotopes between horses. From what I took, the picture looks something like this:
C. nitida, prefers sandy outcrops and roads on the tops and slopes of hills.
C. transbaikalica prefers riverine spits and competes with C. restricta and C. laetescripta, or rather displaces them.
C. sachalinensis in Blagoveshchensk is very rare (I know just a couple of places) because there are rarely roads with clay and gravel, and C. nitida does not allow him to live on sand, but in Kundur he seems to normally cohabit with C. gemmata.
And C. elisae is generally a great original - he loves to live on mud, along with Bembidion sp. I discovered it quite by accident and was very surprised when I learned that it was not brought to Blagoveshchensk. Although C. laetescripta was also not mentioned for Blagoveshchensk...
Oh, yeah. There's also C. sylvatica-this one is in the north and there it is by itself and everywhere, except for the river banks.

Dear Bianor, if it is not a secret, where exactly in the Amur region did you collect C. sylvatica? I don't have any data on this type.
For C. nitida, I had several finds on a sandy beach (on the left bank of the Zeya River) and one specimen on the Amur embankment. Although, of course, for forest paths of such places as "Mukhinka" it is more typical.

12.03.2007 11:01, Bianor

I took C. nitida on the left bank a couple of times, but not on the bank itself, but a little further - on the riverbed rampart, where the woody vegetation is already developed. And I was surprised that both times I met him in similar places - where the road climbs the highest hills. Mountaineer, damn itsmile.gif

C. sylvatica ... Ugh... For the Amur region - Tynda, Ust-Nyukzha and Kuvykta. More or less massively - in Ust-Nyukzh. There it is found at the foot of mountains, on colluvial deposits or on terraces. Soil likes clay-gravelly - densely rolled roads or vacant lots, fires with a lack of soil horizon and with a sparse growth of woody vegetation. The rest of the places where I met him are adjacent territories of the Khabarovsk Territory. (Chegdomyn, Jamku) By the way, I can look at the labels of my sylvatics in the evening. I only have a couple - I don't fill in series. It would be interesting to look for him from the Estate in Maly Khingan. There are also suitable botopes and vegetation is more northern than broad-leaved forests of the same Kundur or Calcareous.

By the way, Vitaili has dealt well with C. gracilis, and he can provide comprehensive information on this species. Although, probably already given?smile.gif

12.03.2007 11:28, Dinusik

Thanks! This information is very valuable for me, I have not yet had to go to the north. I will be doubly grateful for the label data smile.gif
We talked to Vitaly about C. gracilis. In principle, I myself collected it in large quantities. I wonder why in the literature it is given out as a rare species. According to my observations, it is more than massive. Sometimes hundreds are trapped in dry fields.

12.03.2007 11:48, Bianor

I have taken C. gracilis ONCE in my entire life :D In the floodplain of the Chigiri River, near the water on a wet sandy bank (a pile ) under the closed crowns of trees. So here you probably need to know the biology of the species in order to decipher its fat herds. And glasses on sukhodolny meadows to me usually medvedki burysmile.gif On the worst end kruber comes.

12.03.2007 11:57, Dinusik

I managed to take a giant series in the vicinity of Tolstovka (Tambov district).
The view begins to go from the second half of summer to September. There were finds on Mukhinka in dry meadows, but there I caught them with my hands. They really run at breakneck speed, you can't catch up with everyone! From the outside they look like rabid ants overgrown smile.gif

is sahlbergi somehow different from hibrida? They are very similar

Habitually they differ quite well. Sahlbergi is mostly lighter, with a brighter copper or greenish-copper background. The white spots are wider and larger than in hybrida. The apex of the median white spot is almost always almost circular and sharply shifted to the apex of the elytra.

Previously, sahlbergi was considered only as a subspecies of hibrida, for which several morphs were known. After gaining species status, some morphs that were well separated geographically became subspecies, respectively. The picture, as I understand it, is a nominative sahlbergi that lives in the lower Volga region and Kazakhstan. The left-bank Ukraine is characterized by s. kersonensis, which is characterized by less wide spots and bandages. Often this subspecies was mistaken for maritima. Thus, V. V. Brigadirenko, noting the maritima as the most common horse for the Dnipropetrovsk region, clearly takes sahlbergi for it. [attachmentid()=19542
] On the other hand, there is maritima kirgisica, which lives together with the nominative sahlbergi and is very similar to it
