It seems that all the current Kazakh crushers have decided, and you can show them.
First, Chioneosoma. Beetles are covered with a whitish coating, which darkens when wet. They are active at dusk, before or after sunset, when females feed on plants, and males fly, looking for them by smell. During the day, in the heat, beetles usually burrow into the soil. Only comparatively widespread Chioneosoma porosum, Ch. gorilla, and Ch. pulvereum were found and recorded.
Ch. gorilla, characterized by the thickest pubescence of the pronotum and thighs, is found on sands, more often on juzgun.
Ch. pulvereum is also found on the sands, which are sometimes extremely beaten out, without shrubs at all, and reaches at least the Aral Karakum Mountains to the east.
The most polytopic Ch. porosum, with a characteristic notch on the leading edge of the platypus, was common in the Syr Darya valley except in deserts. Beetles usually fly in the crowns of trees.

By the way, most other species of Kazakhstan chioneosomes have small ranges. For example, Chioneosoma subporosum and C. demetrii are considered endemic to the Syr Darya and Zeravshan valleys, while Chioneosoma kizilkumense, C. mucidum, and C. rostovtzovi are endemic to the eastern part of the Kyzylkum desert...

Polyphilla - large, summer (unlike spring chineosomes) crunches that do not feed during the imago phase. Active at night. Mostly males fly, while females crawl on the ground and plants and only occasionally take off low.
Polyphilla irrorata and Polyphilla adspersa came to light in valleys in the foothills of Karatau and Syr Darya.
Polyphilla alba , which differs from adspersa in the enlarged club of its antennae, flew on the sands in the slopes of northern deserts and southern steppes, and en masse.

Beetle comes across much less often "classics"
Many thanks to Dmitrich(y) for consulting in the definition (I confused it with the Western one, which we do not have).

So, somewhere outside the city (and not far) there is a station where they fly en masse. Such species are not small in number; even in the far north of their range (Kaliningrad Region), they are found in large numbers in suitable biotopes.

Our fullo is also a rarity, listed in the Red Book, where it is written that there is a small local population near Saratov. I didn't catch fullo, unfortunately. But alba is banal along the banks of the Volga, males actively fly to the light. Dozens of them arrived in Chardym in an hour.
As for Melolontha, we have only hippocastani, common, found in the city, in the Sanatorium "October Gorge", every year, hundreds.

I have a fullo from ocd. Sheehan, assembled either in 78, or in 79 (you need to look at the label), was brought by a cousin who lived there at one time. This copy. one of the few beetles that survived from the first-a children's collection, which was mostly devoured by leatherworms.

05.12.2011 9:20, AGG

we caught Alba 1 time in the central city park-carousels and all that, but that's 1000% delivery. it does not reach us, but the full should be and is, current how/where to find confused.gifit can anyone have information on "favorite" habitats within the Black Earth mol.gifregion

In Volgograd, I caught it on sandy terraces, near a pine plantation.

in Volgograd, I also caught a lot of things, but this is too "southern" in relation to me weep.gif

05.12.2011 10:35, Mantispid

And here's another thing, to quote fullo: "in the vicinity of Saratov, the species is noted only in the area of M. Elshanki, on sandy and sandy loam soils. The dynamics of this local population is rather unstable."
So she lives on the sand)
This only applies to the Saratov region, and so in the region it is still found in many places. 3rd rarity category (in CC)

In the Kaliningrad region, there is a stable population on the Curonian Spit. They fly on the sand dunes covered with willows, not far from the pine forest. According to my observations, summer starts about an hour after sunset and continues until complete darkness. They fly mainly in the crowns of willows growing on dunes, and males, in general, at a higher altitude than females. In the daytime, most of the beetles burrow into the sand, but some individuals remain sitting on the branches of shrubs, occasionally even fly during the day.

By the way, I have never found this beetle on other parts of the Kaliningrad coast of the Baltic Sea, in addition to the Curonian Spit (although I collected quite a lot in these places). Perhaps, in such northern latitudes, the microclimate is important for it, which takes place on a sandbar, and does not matter - in the "continental" part of the coast.

P. S. By the way, the indications that representatives of the genus Polyphylla do not feed at the imago stage are not entirely correct - I have found (during the daytime) female P. fullo chewing pine needles.
